I got to know. Does everyone on this forum (well not EVERYBODY) seems to pick on scoots.is it just for fun or does everyone really hate them? If so why? I've got to ride a few, small to large and for city commuting they are fantastic. Sorry for my ignorance but I got to know.

Everyone on this site picks on everyone... lol
I think there cool, then again I've been to Greece so many times and they are really popular there.

I sometimes joke about never waving to scooters, but in reality I actually do wave. And I'm not exactly immune to their charms, either...

I don't hate scooters, I do hate when they get to filter and for some reason cops think its okay for a scooter to filter on the right, but do it on a bike and its a cherry sundae.

Lucky bastards.

That I would agree with.

My first bike was a Vespa LX150. Not only did I learn to ride on a very accessible bike, it kept my insurance costs ridiculously cheap while I gained some experience. When I went to buy my first 'real' bike recently my two years of experience got me a fantastic rate. The only thing embarrassing about riding the scooter wasn't the fact that it was a scooter, but the baby blue colour that my girlfriend at the time insisted on.

BTW I was also surprised to discover that 90% of bikers on the road waved to me when riding the Vespa.

Not to mention that scooters are legally allowed to park on the sidewalk and motorcycles aren't. Looking at the size of some of the larger CC scooters out there, that aint so fair. So maybe everyone has sidewalk envy. I would rather have my bike off the road and away from the people who dont know how to parallel park.

Scooters killed my brother and raped my cousin.

I think if I parked my dads burgman on the sidewalk people would not be happy. I just don't get it. I was out on the burgman the other day at Canadian tire. I put my full face in the trunk when a random guy walk up to me and said that even though he thought the space inside was amazing he would never be caught dead on a scooter. When I asked why he laughed and said I don't need anyone thinking I'm someones boyfriend (a gay joke, oh, ha ha) I don't get that at all.

It is not legal. Parking officials just over look it because they're smaller.

People need to realize that a scooters reputation is slow, driving miss daisy. The general population see scooters are a motorized bicycle. Motorcycles on the other hand.. they are the devil's creation.

Not to mention that some people who ride scooters...ride like real dillholes. Maybe that's where the hate comes from.

Only the pinheads really "hate" them. It reminds me of the old Wasaga Beach strip many years before the big fire finally forced much-needed renovations there.

Some poor sod on a then new-looking Honda Cub scooter was making his way on the road that ran between the beach and the old fire-trap shacks that made up the south side of the strip. On each side of the scooter was a MC club rider on big Harleys kicking and yelling at him as they rode along, and in front of the scooter was another Harley making sure that the scooter couldn't try to get away.

From the yelling, it wasn't sure just what the poor guy's biggest offence was: riding a Jap machine, riding a scooter on the MC club's "turf", or simply looking a bit like a nerdy college kid. In any case, it didn't look like the idiots on the Harleys were just doing some good-natured ribbing, and the scooter rider didn't look like he was enjoying it either.

Really? Let me ask you a question.

Who doesn't ride/drive like a dillhole in the GTA? lol

I especially am jealous that they can hop on the sidewalk whenever it's convenient --;

Scooters are great. If I lived and worked downtown, I'd definately have one. Very practical and more fun than a car.
