Safety Motorcycle

Hello,

I just recently bought a bike and now I'm in the process of registering it. I'm having the hardest time looking for a place to do a safety on it. And some of the rates I get are 80-100. Is that standard? Because I recently took the RTI class and asked one of the instructors about the cost and he said around 40 bucks if I'm coming to them, 80 if there coming to me to look at it. I live in the Etobicoke area, any body have any suggestions on where to go?

I was quoted by a local Hamilton shop for $75 for safety ? Is that to high or whats the typical rate ?

look at it this way..

temp plates = what $15 i think
time waiting in line for temp plates... sucks
then you get to ride your bike to get a safety...
then you get to wait in lint to get real plates...and pay for the real plates.

personally...$100 for them to come to me is worth it. less headache.

Phone your local Canadian Tire. If they have m/c mechanic on staff they'll do it. Last one I had done 2yrs. ago cost, I think, $40. Mind you that was the Dundas store which is almost like a mom and pop outfit. Maybe it's more intense in the big city. Worth a shot tho.

You wont find anyone legit to come to your house to do a safety.

Plus its illegal as well.
cant speak for the legal part.. but there are lots of mobile mechanics.
I know the etest just recently changed for cars but last summer there was even mobile etest companies that would twst with your car in neutral. . Most awd cars are tested in neutral anyway.
doing a safety inspection doesnt really require a hoist or other special tools that you cant fit in your trunk.

Being a mobile mechanic is one thing. Doing a certification away from your shop is illegal.

@rnoodles; In the Hamilton area, 3 good shops for safeties that I've dealt with are Ultimate Cycle at Barton and Nash had two bikes safetied there. Kelly's Cycle Centre on Upper Wellington and 9731 Mechanical on Dickenson Road in Mount Hope. All are reasonable prices range between $60 and $90.

K so is driving 1km/h over the limit. You seem to have some serious issues with the guy.

He's just stating facts. When people ask a question, that is what one should try to do. You seem to be the one with issues.

$40 @ Rosey Toes, $75+ at any other shops
