Rubberizing or Truck Bed Liner As Paint

I'm looking to use a spray-on rubbery material that is smooth to paint the fairings on my bike as well as possibly in the future to re-coat my rubberized helmet, etc. I'm looking for recommendations. I've heard some are smooth and some are textured/rough, and that they're not at all the same.

So far I've heard of :
- Rhino
- Plastex
- http://www.chirienterprise.com/index.html (out of Quebec)
- Line-X

i used bed liner paint and it turned out the way you dont want it....which is what the product is designed to do. leaved a durable but grippy and abrasive surface. So if thats the look you dont want, you want be able to use any of those.

+1 my truck bed was done by Line-X, and Ive also used 2 brands of DIY spray liner from CT.....All will give you a heavily textured finish, because that is what they are designed to do...

With the DIY spray cans you can manipulate the amount texture a little depending on how you spray it, but even when you spray it as smooth as possible its still more texture then what your looking for...

Also keep in mind Rihno liner or Line-X etc is not cheap, just a truck bed runs around $600

Spray version of plastidip. Ive seen a couple of ppl of use it for exterior car trim and it turned out quite well.

After researching a lot with Plasti-dip that stuff sounds excellent. I've seen car rims done with it that have held up at least 6 months after the fact, and if the stuff does peel off, it seem to do no damage to the layer below, so reapplication can be swift and inexpensive.

I found a Home Hardware near me. I think I'm gonna grab some of this and start testing it on random subjects I find.

Plastic
Metal
Children--oops

I picked some up black spray Plasti-dip two or three months ago at the Home Hardware above Woodbine/Hwy 7
 
Thanks for the suggestion... I just painted my front fairing. I also turned my orange Drift HD170 to a stealth.
 
Did you use Plasti-Dip to accomplish this successfully?

Five coats, you say? How long do you wait in between coats? Is the Plasti-Dip still wet (tacky?) while you apply the next coat, etc?

I waited about 30 min between coats. Most of it was dry but some spots were still tacky.
 
well i am using plastiDip on all my chrome to see how i like the blacked out look, but I am also clear coating it as i am not into the flat black look, did some testing on a dead soldier tonight as i was in the garage putting the jugs back on my vmax-4
