The most important part of the Rippl ApexRides is of course the padding.
It covers all the crucial points for me, which are the butt cheeks and groin area. However, it doesn’t cover the lower back and tailbone area. I guess it’s not supposed to, but I know some people have issues on particular bikes with a sore tailbone.
Rippl Impact uses a combination of gel and breathable foam padding. The key here is breathability. A friend of mine recently asked why they don’t use full gel padding. There are two reasons for this choice:
Gel is not breathable: This can trap heat and moisture, leading to discomfort for the rider.
Gel can be more slippery than foam: This could potentially affect a rider’s stability in the saddle.
Therefore, a combination of gel and breathable foam seems like the ideal solution, offering both comfort and stability. This likely explains why Rippl Impact uses this approach.
