Rider Down — short rant

I (and Sircastic — thanks again!) just helped a kid at Bovaird and 410 who went down. It pisses me off to no end that dozens of car drivers roared up to him, blared the horn, and sped around him. No one stopped to help him. NO ONE! The poor kid was in shock, his hand was ripped open, and he couldn't pick his bike up. I went down the road, pulled a u-turn and blocked the road behind him (bike was across two lanes). We got his bike upright and onto the shoulder, surveyed the damage, Sircastic popped over and fixed his throttle and after about 30 minutes he felt well enough to get the bike to a buddy's place close by.

What is wrong with so many people that when they see someone in the road, possibly injured, that they cannot spend a few minutes to make sure the person is ok? I swear, we're seriously lacking human decency in our culture sometimes. :x

Atlest you were there picture if you werent, people would just keep passing by.....

the day of my accident a rider just looked and kept going (before the cops even showed up). I didn't expect him to stop nor did I expect anyone to come to my aid, this city seems to be losing lots of its humanitarian aspects, but I wouldn't know since I wasn't born here, so I expect to have to deal with stuff on my own..

Great to know you stop, you helped him/her and you got him on his way! :thumbright:

Yeah, I watched a guy do a 540 in his Jimmy on the 401 and ended up backing into the guardrail on the right side blocking the on-ramp lane. So I stop, block the lane with my car with my 4-ways on, get out and ask him if he's alright. I had just opened my door to get out when the lady behind me starts blaring the horn. Like, she just saw the guy back into the guardrail at about 80kmh...like, seriously??? Figure it out honey!! Yeesh.. She then proceeds to turn left into the right lane at 0km/h and nearly causes another accident. I should mention, I was entering the highway and was still on the on-ramp when this happened..I saw him out of the corner of my eye and started braking to avoid him. So I wasn't actually blocking the right lane of the highway..just the merge lane.

I was in University and some elderly woman fell down in the subway and hit her head because she couldn't get to her seat in time..as soon as that happened and someone pushed the alert strip, some woman says "Aww for **** sake!!" I think it's just our society..buncha mutton-heads..

Well if those dang blamit kids weren't trying to kill themselves on motorbikes, they wouldn't be in the way; preventing us upstanding citizens from getting to our employment opportunities.

Sounds like a typical day in Brampton. The latest trick in my neighborhood is to try to pass the car or bike in front of you on the left in the oncoming lane before they try to turn left onto their driveway.

When I get close to my house I move into the oncoming lane so they can pass on the right. I would rather go in the oncoming lane myself than have someone try pass my bike on the left when I am turning left.

looks like it enforces you being pro-active. nice.

As a new rider from Brampton (I've only ridden for about 3 days), everyone I ride near seems to be extra cautious i.e. gives me a lot of space

I haven't encountered any lowered civics yet however

I live in Brampton too. ;) Whenever I get on the bike, it's to get the heck out of here. Worst collection of the most irresponsible and disrespectful drivers on the planet are in Brampton.

++++++++

I hope the rider gets his hand looked at. No gloves and the heel of his right hand was gruesome looking.

You really have not been to many other places, have you?

Considering I've lived here for a total of 18 months, I'd say I've been elsewhere. E.g., Even with the stereotype of Québec drivers being terrible, they're nothing like the drivers here in Brampton. They actually stop at red lights in Québec. The drivers here just don't give a **** about anyone else on the road.

Good to know there's still people like you in Brampton.

Like you i hate Brampton and want to get the hell out of here. Just very hard to leave because i live 10 mins away from work.

Well you are lucky seeing how I live in btown and my 3rd day on bike got hit from behind. I mean really if its gonna come from behind I want to at least enjoy it...lmao:lmao: Any how on another note... I always stop to help if I see a accident or someone in need of help.

Really hope he's ok

Good for you that you stopped. I know there are still decent people out there they are just very few of them, and sir you are one. Awesome job.

Now I have to give all you GTA riders credit for riding in the GTA. I live just south of the GTA and drive through once in a while and I couldn't ride in or through the GTA.
Stay safe out there gals and guys.
