Ride Like a Police Officer

There was one guy there for the advance level 2. The exercises seemed tough. The keyholes were just under 18ft I think, and quite a bit of the slow speed exercises required leaning the motorcycle almost to the point of scraping the floor boards on either side. He was doing pretty good but lost count of how many times he dropped the motorcycle on some of the tight turns. Hell, I saw the instructors drop the motorcycles twice trying to make better times on some of the runs during practice.
That is the level I want to reach at...I think I will have to buy a harley next just to keep that skill. My c109 has big 240 tire and does not want to lean that much, also it is a longer motorcycle so the turning radius is bigger

Is it bigger than the electra glide? I think the frame on the road ling is the same as the electra glide but I could be wrong. Doug also pointed out that the tires on the stock '09 and up were wider, and I did notice that they were indeed wider on the one '09 model they had. Plus, that 09 turned better than the other older road kings. The profile on those tires did seem to be more curved like a sport/sport touring tire. But You could be right; The 240 may be a bit too big to make the same tight turns.

I would say it is totally worthwhile - all education/training is worthwhile IMO - I have asked the police here about it but they don't have a course available for civilians...they only train police riders. they say the police are the best 5% of riders on he road...so if you can take a comparable course in the u.s. that is likely very, worthwhile. thanks for the link, I may take a look also (don't understand why anyone with a bike would fly there...not the most exciting ride on the 401 from the GTA, but I would still definitely ride). thanks again.

Very interesting read..... thanks for the link. $500 isn't that bad if you plan to do this with your own bike... I really appreciate both reviews, very good info.

Anybody did this course this year
There is a relatively new course a little closer to home, taught by a former motor officer/trainer.
J.P. is a fantastic rider, ex marine, former DC Motor Officer and Presidential motorcade rider (leader?)

I met him while he was training motor officers in Ontario with Harley Davidson. Now he's teaching on his own, and he sells Victory police motorcycles all over North America.

I know the course won't be the same as a motor officer course, but it is taught by someone with that background, and geared towards civilians on their own bikes.

Edit: JP is also a helluva nice guy.... ;)

I would be interested in taking the course if they provided bikes. Do you know if that option is available?

I am in the process of upgrading my ACM2Z to a ABM2Z and had in class training yesterday and came across the brochure for this:

It sounds just like what I am looking for. Sounds like it may have some similarities to the cool course the OP is on. :)

I just talked to JP. He is a very nice guy. He has two places in and around Toronto where he can do a one day course which is about 6 hours. He is ready to come to Toronto and do a course provided he gets at least 7 Riders and for that he will charge $160.00 each instead of his $185.00.I am trying to see how many of my buddies are interested to do that. Anyone interested to do this course, please respond here so that we have a tentative count and arrange accordingly.I can guarantee that no matter how good riders we are, these courses impart in you the skills, which will save our lives. I use these skills every day on road both while riding and driving. These skills have come to my advantage so many times. Ride safe friends

Just talked to JP again.... Possible dates are 27th or 28th July, at Burlington, ON. He says if someone can arrange a parking lot in Toronto, he can come there too. But for now he has access to Burlington parking lot. Please let me know which date is more suitable to all who want to attend. Once we finalize the date, you can call JP and work out the payment with him directly. His number is 1 (519) 870-4853.

It's a little unclear what this course covers but if it's like the UK advanced rider course then it should be quite beneficial to a number of riders. My brother took the advanced course in the UK and really liked it, it also lowered his insurance rates over there.
