Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

just came back from watching Flight....man, the opening half hour was breath taking....they really did an amazing job recreating what a crash would feel like. They were pretty spot on with depicting the accuracy of the cockpit. Mind you most pilots just grab for the checklist (they have a checklist for EVERYTHING).

Not gonna ruin the movie but the crash they used for the movie actually did happen, the cause was the same....

I was assuming it was about the hudson river landing... And that disinterested me about it. But maybe I'll give it a shot.

Never saw True Romance before...it was very cool.

Lawless was pretty good. I liked it.

I watched "End of Watch" (Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena) and its a great friggin movie.

Lawless - i kept waiting for the kick-off part, didn't happen...wasted my time on this one.

End of Watch - everyone should give this movie a look, but make sure the kids are not around.

Agreed. The entire time the movie built up one story, then dropped and started building up another story, then dropped it as well then built up ANOTHER story....and then pfffffffft ends with the sound of a whoopie cushion. and Tom Hardy, i respect him as an actor, hes decent, but the entire movie he just tried to hide how massively huge and muscular he was....lol whos he fooling with that sweater!?

Again, great premise, failed at delivery.

Watched 12 monkeys...in 3 nights. Still scatchin my head about it all.

Watched Savages ...like most said meh...it could've been good if Tarantino did it.

It's a classic. GREAT movie. Dennis Hopper's part with Christopher Walken is bad ***.

Was very cool will watch it again

Watched a few new movies to DVD while home sick:
MIB3 - recommend...a bit of prequel
A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas - riddikulus :p
The Watch - funny...didn't expect the alien twist. I shoulda read the jacket.

The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey - recommended...a beautiful holiday movie.

Watching surrogates (2009) with Bruce Willis. Non stop action, right up there with die hard in my book. Worth watching imo.

I watched Savages.
What a waste of time. I want my bandwidth back

The whole thing was about 2 dudes sharing 1 girl, wtf???

It's a California thing.. You don't know who plays for which team down there

The Man With The Iron Fists, wonderfully cheesy

Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War - It's not recent (2004) but it's an excellent war drama about 2 brothers fighting for the fascist dictator against the communist monarch

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" - As a fan of Tolkien's works since I was a kid I enjoyed it, but not as much as the "Lord of the Rings" series. The reason is pretty simple. When Jackson did the "Lord of the Rings" series his vision of that world was almost exactly like mine. When reading "The Hobbit" I envisioned a much smaller (no pun intended) world, wherein the main character sees the world in much larger terms as the story progresses. In this first of three movies Jackson went for epic feel. Everything is huge, right from the get-go. Epic battles, massive scenery, the lot. It doesn't fit.

The scenes that he inserted, that weren't actually in the book, tend to work because they show what was hinted at going on, behind the scenes. The recurring villain is an odd addition but OK, whatever.

Someone who never read the book, unlike me, would likely like it better.

I watched Surrogates and wasn't that impressed.. Not a waste of time and it is a reasonably entertaining movie but I wouldn't compare it to Die Hard or even Die Hard With a Vengeance.

More like trying too hard....and to have Tarantinos name on that is false advertising BS. He didnt do a damn thing on that except lend his name to RZA. Who wants to see fat *** russel crowe play a bad ***?

I dont turn too many movies off, but this one. yea it got cuz half way through.
