Rc 390!

I think you are way off with your analogy here .... all he said was that he can walk into a Suzuki dealer buy two different bikes today and equip them for racing for less than the KTM. KTM won't even tell him when he can sit on one, forget about riding one home. Will his kids regret racing something else, maybe yes maybe not, but I am sure they will be glad they are racing ..... in another words it's not the same, as if I, who likes RC390, would wait and wait, then paid MSRP and be happy owner of street ridden RC390. I have nothing to miss and I don't care whether it's more than Ninja or not.

If KTM Canada really wanted people on their RC390 (the bike is advertised as beginner's affordable race bike ... that's in Europe; here's it's more like enthusiast's low cc bike ...), they would certainly be a bit better prepared, don't you think?

In regards to racing it, the SV won't beat the cornering speed of the RC390, but just so you know.

Thanks.

Right, and the SV will eat it on every straight, so from racing standpoint .... anyway apple and orange.

baka, your logic makes no sense. It's like comparing a 650R ($8000) to a ZX6 ($14000). The ZX6 should be cheaper because the engine sizes are almost the same, right?

I'm trying to understand your argument point. Sorry. I don't see how your comparison fits the scenario.

Are you saying that a CRF230F should be the same price as a CRF250X? Right?

Yep, they are selling them $3300USD in India, and UK has the highest price of all at more than double. They can't get mass market for this bike here, we are lucky the Duke 390 is here as well.

You can't comprehend. Go shop around and don't sit around every day.

depends on the track
it's like saying a litre bike will always beat a 600 on a track

Advanced or expert rider will ... Occasional novice maybe not, especially on some low speed tight track.

But anyway, we are not talking 600SS vs 1000SS ... but more less RC390 single vs SV650 twin ... which none of have abundance of power for any track around, so unless we are talking tight oval, It would be SV in my opinion I'd put money on ... if for some reason they are allowed to race head to head. Which does not mean, that it's a better for everyone everywhere ....

In my humble opinion it would be interesting to see the 390 vs the SV. Would definitely be track dependent I would think.

On a similar (but different) scale I have seen the Ninja 250 vs a CBR250 (29 twin vs 25 single hp) where with lots of corners like SMTP long the CBR250 was able to break free of the Ninja and set better lap times in a race (with similar skilled riders) whereby on SMTP Pro with more flowing course the CBR250 just kept getting swallowed up and couldn't use the corners to break free of the Ninja.

I always enjoyed watching TMP between the slower, but lighter better cornering bikes and faster, but heavier bikes .... it's fun. Not sure whether they would be allowed to run in the same class though ... probably when a class is controlled by rider's age or experience, right?

For track days?

My kids have run their 250s in 1st and 2nd level groups but never the advanced group not because of their lack of skill but purely due to far greater risk of the speed differentials they would pose in the advanced group.

On the 250s in intermediate they turn lap times close to most intermediates and the slower intermediates on 600s etc slow them down especially in the corners. At SMTP Long most intermediate 600s turn 2 00 to 2 15 I would think (purely speculation) where the 250 can do 2 08 to 2 12 without much effort.

I've seen it at track days too ... but I was actually talking about racing. It was SOAR a couple or more years back, I have no idea of the class ... fella on CBX250 was giving fits a couple of people on faster bikes ... I still laugh about it today.

The old RDT at Mosport was a good example of 250 vs 125 and rider vs rider. I did my last 125CC (CBR) Racer5 Day there and there were two of us consistently faster then the guys on the Ninja 250's. Sometimes they would pass us on the back straight but we could normally hold them off. Through the corners we were definitely a lot quicker. Again though a tight technical track I feel makes the difference for the smaller bike.

Hey dude hows it going? Did you pull the trigger on your bike? Are you excited yet lol..

Of course, deposit down, delivery in spring. It's cool bike, premium brand, what more can i ask for, can't wait to pick up chicks on this bike:tshirt:

Looks like a sweet ride.. A lot of punch in a small package. The price isn't unreasonable compared to what else is out there on our overpriced market.
