That new Colorado, is it slated to come diesel as promised?
So many amazing cars available these days if you're willing to go over $50G. 4C, ZL-1, i3... Too bad such sums can't be justified other than to soothe one's ego.Corvette ... Awesome. NSX ... Awesome but don't even think about the price tag. If I had $70 grand to spend on a car (fail) and had a surplus of garage space (fail), it would be the Alfa 4C. It's stunning.

I saw no mention of said new truck having balls hanging from the back of it. That will disappoint him tooNah, that cant be right, our resident "expert" says diesels are slow and anemic off the line.

John - Congrats - Nice truck. Wait until it's broken in about 100,000 km from now!

when you get spanked by Ford, the cleverest solution the whizzes at Chrysler could come up with?
Gaudy, foot tall letters on the tailgate.....
Thanks for the review. What was the OTD price on it?1500 Eco Diesel, Crew Cab, SLT, 3.92 rear end,4x4. I have about 2500Km on it. On my second tank at 85 Km per hour I saw 8.8L-100K in four wheel drive. I average around town about 11-12L-100k. If I drive with a heavy foot I can see 14. If you step on it it will throw you in the back seat[which is fun]. I have not had a truck with this much torque. I'm having trouble adjusting to the gear selector on the dash. Lots of interior storage. Drives like a sports car with the new RAM suspension.8 Speed tranny shifts real smooth. Seems to get it's best mileage on the 401 at about 15-1600RPM which is about 103 KPH on the highway I was down to 9.8L per 100 and it was dropping.
I bought the air bag package for towing and it is nice to be able to adjust your ride height and have the aero adjusting package for highway.
Using the premium diesel I have not seen a fill up more then $94. I'm seeing about 900K per tank right now and this tank should see me hit the 1000+ with my current driving style.
I have not towed with it yet. Starts well in the cold. I plug it in when it gets to -10C.
Negatives,, the heater takes a while to push heat out but that apparently is a diesel thing. The windshield wipers suck.
So far I love it and the gas saving's over the Triton is making the payment.
I looked at every 1500 to 2500's in gas and diesel,, the Eco diesel gave me the best of both worlds. The torque is greater then the 5.7 Hemi. Gas mileage is the best of any truck that could tow a big trailer when not towing. I could care less about the 1/4 mile 60 foot time or trap speed. I wanted to tow and get gas mileage when not towing.
I tow 15-20 times a year the Eco Diesel seemed to fit my needs. So far so good!
I have a friend that towed a 10,000 pound trailer last summer and had no issues with his and loved it.
Thanks. Lol I actually just built one on the website and yeah it came to 41 and change with some $8000 consumer cash discount.Think I was $42,000 with a few deals.
Options I got were the air bag system, towing package,Diesel,3.92 rear end, front buckets, spray on box liner, and it was the 4x4 SLT package.
A friend just bought the model down with the 5.7 Hemi base model $25,000 out the door.
The Eco Diesel sold me on the torque with the mileage and I plan on keeping it for a while.
the ridiculous RAM lettering on the tailgate is reserved for the top line model (Laramie?), and hope and pray the sensible ones on chrysler team don't make the sad mistake of putting this across the model line.
Good on Dodge for offering a diesel in a full size. Clearly there are some who appreciate this.
you may be interested to know that the Fiat sourced ecodiesel in the RAM was originally intended for a CAR. A cadillac sedan in europe prior to GMs near bankruptcy. GM cancelled the project, and Chrysler picked it up.
Companies like Ford are showing that the gap between diesels and gassers is shrinking rapidly. Cheaper to buy up front, cheaper to maintain, less emissions worries, one less engine to certify, etc. The 2.7 has less torque than the RAM diesel, but Ford clearly shows that with a small engine, 2 less speeds in the tranny, less torque, along with some clever engineering, it can still outperform a RAM in acceleration and virtually match the RAMs city rating for fuel economy.
Among other clever features ford introduced on the 2.7L , they introduced a automatic stop/start for city driving on the 2.7, which will surely aid fuel economy for city drivers at stop lights, and guys stuck in stop and go traffic on the highway.
Reliability is a moot point, as they have been proven reliable in the real world since 2011, race series, and Police fleets. Ford has 50+% of the police market locked up and increasingly forces choosing the ecoboost option.
Lots of great options in the pu truck market. Never been a better time to pick... and if you like a diesel, thats ok too......
I wish they'd had that truck when I bought mine. Driving around in a 3/4 ton is rediculas overkill. Heck towing my trailer it's still rediculous overkill but oh well.
I'll be interested to hear about you milage towing. You've got a pretty big trailer so it'll be a good test. I'm sure it'll be better on fuel than the v10 though.
Answer for your "anemic and slow" diesel comments instead of sidestepping the questions and comments by once again sounding like a ****ing Ford salesguy.
I bet the 2.7 doesnt come NEAR the city advertised MPG's....guaran-****ing-teed.
