just like if you got a ceiling fan that's spinning slow, you can stick your hand in and stop the blades. but if it's spinning fast, your hand doesn't get a chance to go through.
I'm not sure I understand your ceiling fan analogy. Can you please video yourself showing how your hand can't get thru a fast moving fan. I assume the principle is the same with all fans (not just ciwling fans) so, to ensure you're own safety I think you should crank up a commercial grade drying fan all the way. You know, just to be sure it won't go thru.
