R3 vs Sv650 (and do looks matter?)

Well there you go. Just a quick question before you sign the papers, did you have a salesmen hold the bike up so that you could put both feet on the pegs?

I seem to remember having him do that, but ill do it again just to be sure

So i just went and sat on the sv and r3, had the sales guy hold the bike while i sat on em, both ergos feel comfy

Also the sv650 was supposed to come out in june, but apparently Vos motors already has one

A few things though, i was telling the sales guy i was thinking of saving up for a while and pay cash, but it would take a while to save up, he got REALLY pushy, insisted that we fill out the paperwork to see if they can get me financed right on the spot or not(lol) I said no ty and got the **** up out of there(Super annoying sales guy with frenchie accent)

another thing, the SV has this unsightly radiator, its super obvious and its one of the first things you notice on it, its rectangular shaped and sticks out about 3 inches both left AND right side of the bike

The one they had was all black, like a carbon black sort of color, ill wait till they get the other colors before going to get one probably(something with more bright visible colors)

@bigpoppa good on you for gtfo when the salesman got pushy. You buy on your terms.

Yeah just have fun with it. I sat on 50 bikes before taking my FZ home. Also don't be afraid to throw a leg over some supersport bikes to get a sense of how comfortable the standard bikes are in comparison.

On Thursday i stopped into a Yamaha dealer during a 3 hour ride on my FZ and sat on a beautiful red and black R1. I was instantly made happy knowing that I was getting back on my 6R for the ride home.

Well then never sit on a 650 Burgman because you'll be weeping all the way home.

The SV 650's radiator may look unsightly today but when California kustomizers start trending big radz it will seem diminutive. Look at all the trends that have come and gone and name one that didn't start as a lark. At least these radz provide function.

That is weird. I was looking at side pics and couldnt figure out what you were talking about. But from that angle it is unsightly

And that wasnt even the right angle, i had hoped to get it right infront of camera phone, its worse in person, like a random LCD monitor placed there

Such a hideous radiator on such an awesome bike

BTW, JUST RANDOM from what i just read on the thread, but when they referred to the ktm 390 they were talking about the duke, not the rc. Yes rc is "somewhat" agressive compared to your other choices, but the duke isnt.

Otherwise, at your size id consider the 650. Although i enjoy my 500x, the 650 would probably work better for your frame.

But in the end, as it was suggested, TEST RIDE to find your answer :)

Demo ride season is still in full effect if you feel confident enough to try em out, most of them just require an M2.

KTM has poor build quality, and reliability issues(I guess thats what we get for manufactured in India)

Yeah the only real choice as far as 650s are concerned is the SV650

Ninja 650 is considered super sport, and most insurance companies dont want to insure it or give me outrageous quotes, and the Fz6r isnt half as good as the SV650 I hear

I intend to start test riding asap

Don't base your opinion off of what people around here say. Most don't have a clue, talk to owners.

Don't forget about the Honda CBR650F. It might get nailed with the SuperSport premium too; but you won't know unless you ask. I am very partial to this bike with the blue fairing. I have sat on it a couple of times and I find the ergos pretty comfortable. I have never test ridden one though.

you and your hondas....

Its also noticeably more expensive than the others, but i guess i can look at the insurance

Oddly enough the Er 6n is the Same as the Ninja 650....yet the ninja was classified as supersport and the Er was not, even though they are identical, bolt for bolt

my KTM is the best put together bike out of the 4 I've owned so far (Kawi and Triumph).
