Questions To Harley Riders

This is Charlotte
I picked her up May 2017
Right now she has 59,000km on her and I don’t ride her to work.
We’ve been all over the place.
She was made in York PA…I watched her being built
I love the fact she has a 6 gal tank…I get about 380kms per tank.
Nice looking ride!

Curious how do you get so much mileage out of a single tank? I can get 320-mabye 350 max. I know you have a newer bike then mine, but I thought the tank sizes where the same. Maybe the newer models are a bit larger....
Also how did you attach that flag, and were did you get it?

@kiley Beautiful bike. I kicked around the idea of getting a new one but ended up buying my 2013. I love the look of those 2015 and up Rushmore models. Enjoy it.

380 on the highway…and I only get about 340 when its cold.
No special engine mods other than slip-ons
I had a 2013 for 4 years and loved it too but wanted the Rushmore features.
I love the Milwaukie 8 with the 107
The flag…lol
Attached with velcro.
Everybody wants that flag lol
Original I got it at Zehrs in a 50% off bin.
Then the nephew got one at a dollar store in Acton
I then proceeded to go there and clean them out lol.
Look around dollar stores….you will find one.
Especially with Canada Day coming up.
Hoping for great weather and a weekend in Pennsylvania

I’m kind of looking for any original chrome parts for my 2013 so if you replaced anything on your old bike and have stuff kicking around the garage I’d be interested in buying some. Going to black out my chrome and would prefer not having it tore down for a while well my stuff is at the powder coaters.

"In 2014, Harley-Davidson began manufacturing the Street 750 and 500 motorcycles in India - at Bawal, Haryana India, its only manufacturing facility outside of the US"

"The BMW G310R is a standard or naked motorcycle developed by BMW Motorrad in collaboration with TVS Motor Company of India. "

On top of that Harley is planning to make/unveil sub 500cc bikes in India, so it will be making even more bikes in India than BMW is.

But the Indian Harleys aren't sold in North America. India only. On Delta Park Drive in Brampton there's a warehouse full of new BMWs. On the box it says "Made in India". There's hundreds of them, all for Canada. Only the most expensive BMWs are made in Germany, for now.

Yes they are (I've seen them at the dealers)

“All Street 750s and Street 500s for US and Canadian consumption will be built in the Harley-Davidson Vehicle and Powertrain Operations plant in Kansas City, Missouri, where there is a manufacturing line dedicated to producing the liquid-cooled Revolution X engine, a new 60-degree V-twin featuring chain-driven single overhead camshafts. On the other hand, all Street 750s and Street 500s for India, Italy, Spain, and Portugal (the only other markets at this time), will be built in Bawal, which has been expanded to a full manufacturing plant (for the Street models only) and uses parts sourced from all over the world.
Of note, the Revolution X engines and six-speed transmissions for the non US and Canadian models are also built in Bawal, on an expanded manufacturing line there.”

ah ok, so European ones are also build in india.
I also heard the missouri plant was closing down wasnt it?

Also, from Harley Canada's website:

Sorry but at last glance none of the models manufactured in India are sold in Canada at any Harley Davidson dealers. The Street models are still produced at the Kansas City plant, which is scheduled to close in 2019. Not sure what happens to the Street after that, but apparently they're not selling well in North America. It is a possibility HD could source the bikes from India plants in the near future though.

If memory serves, you have a police model. I may be talking out my butt, someone will correct me if I am I'm sure.
I believe the police model has different gear ratios and final drive for little more acceleration, likely raises rpm and fuel consumption.
Or you dont have a 6 gallon tank lol.

I do have a service bike, but that is a misconception, the gear ratios are exactly the same as the touring models.
The only real mechanical difference is a upgraded stator to handle the extra load for the police electronics.

Actually I just checked the spec's again, and yes it does have a 6 Gallon tank. For some reason I thought it was just under 6 (5.5 or something)

See, I was talking out my butt.
Thanks for the info, I've always believed that particular misconception.

The Kansas City plant closed on May 24.

"With the exception of the G310 series, all BMW Motorrad's motorcycle production takes place at its plant in Berlin, Germany."

Where they are made doesn't mean anything. Americans build a lot of crap. Look at their automobile industries.

Almost certain BMW Mottard engines are made in china, rep at the Motorcycle show here told me that

Well they were making them in Germany, still think they are. The BMW 310 bikes are in partnership with an Indian motorcycle company. This article is from last year saying the same thing.
India-made BMW bike rolls in at Rs 3 lakh - Times of India

Not sure what savings BMW would have retooling a new plant to make the boxer engine and others when they have it all developed and working.
