Public Mobile, are these rates good?? (Telus owned)

Wind is half the price with unlimited data (Slowed down after 5GB)....I understand the zones and if your in them 90% of the time they are damn hard to beat.
I have 2 phones with wind, Canada/US calling, unlimited data and text for $85/month for both phones, The same plan from them is $80/month per phone....

Wife is on Wind. WORST. Garbled sound, no reception. I hate it.

Weird, I have had no problem with winds reception, maybe its the phone, or area you are in?
I have full reception and can talk or stream video from my basement perfectly fine....
I have had a couple black spots were service cuts out, but I just work around that and save about 70% on my phone bill each month.

I'm on wind. Can confirm 200%. I absolutely hate it. Can't stream youtube videos properly, reception is horrid indoors, to date (8 mos.) I am yet to be able to send a single picture message (MMS)

Wind seems good if you don't want to use your phone, wife has it usually no service in the house or most places. It may be cheap now of it worked that would be step 2

Wind can work just fine in the GTA.
You just need the right phone and the right setup.

Go get a Samsung S4. Their is another phone that works great but I am not telling you.
The Notes also work well.

You flash the phone with a Custom ROM which is usually WAY better than the stock crap. Then you flash the modem file and you are set.
My friend has a WIND phone I setup for them, works just like Rogers.

They're all the same. They're gonna milk you

Weird, I live in Cambridge and commute all over the GTA, visit barrie on the weekends and it works fine everywhere for calls and streaming HD video.....

I was getting reception up in Muskoka as well (Although it would bounce between roaming and free, but the reception was always good)
Maybe it could be the phone.... I have the HTC One

According to that chart, the equivalent of my $35 Fido plan would be $50 on Public Mobile (before tax). YMMV.

I might be wrong, but it appears if you choose 3 items-- province wide talk, unlimited text, and 1G data, they give you a $15 discount. So in effect it would be $35.

I hear mixed things with Wind, and not sure want to risk going with them, but I do trust Public Mobile, since they appear to be owned by Telus and using their network.

to me, thats a deal, my wife pays double that amount and gets slightly more data that she never uses. Just waiting for her damn contract to expire.....

how much data does your Fido plan give you?

There's a $10 per month SIM card charge (for some reason) adding to the total cost.

I'm currently with FIDO; wouldn't change to Public to pay more money.

You also have to add on the $10/month SIM card rental fee... Plus you have to pay full price up front for your phone...

My dad currently uses public mobile- when they switched over to the telus network last summer he was forced to buy a phone which they gave at a discount.... He doesnt pay any sim rental fee and has never had calls dropped or poor service

that's a good phone it supports just about all the frequencies. I think that is considered a WORLD phone meant to work with all carriers just like the S4 and S5

A customer shouldn't have to do all of the above in order to get "normal" operation from the phone/network. What's next, I have to carry around a mini antenna everywhere I go so I can tap into WIND's signal? Give me a break.

I've posted pictures before where I am "roaming" from my very own kitchen in Mississauga. I can tell you that indoors, I barely every get a signal. You can pretty much forget it if there is a concrete wall within 10 feet of you.

Wind Blows. I can't wait to get off it. FWIW, I have a Galaxy S5.

No you shouldn't but then again WIND is for the cheaper side and sometimes you have to do a bit of work.

Did you get that S5 from Wind?
If not then from what provider?
