1985 Yamaha FZ750 from Hurst Yamaha on the queensway. solo seat as well as track bars. 16/18 wheels, lol. Forks had an air assist feature, were you added preload by adding air to the front forks. Bike would run at redline for ages, rode out to kitchemer back in the day flat out.
5 valve head which they later abandoned.

Don't sell that FZ short. The motor was amazing, the 5 valve head was revolutionary and lasted quite a while.
... it was the rest of the bike... and it's not like the bike was bad, it was just up against some FANTASTIC bikes: the GSXRs, the Ninjas and the Honda Interceptors of the day.
The bike had the motor, didn't have the handling of the competition, which probably made it the best street bike of the bunch.
GOOD LUCK getting decent tires today though.

moto 2.jpgI was headed home, laying on the tank, flat out doing 90MPH when 3 guys in an austin mini passed me. That's when I knew I needed a bigger bike. Also the first and only bike I ever painted black.

Lovely bike. It was always one of my favourites.

I may have posted this before but this is a build that a friend in the UK did. I would love to see Yamaha do a retro version of the FZ something like this.
