Hey Gang,

My cheap little 5G compressor final bit the dust (Hole in tank due to bad weld and rust)
So I'm thinking of getting a small "portable" tire compressor (as that is all I used the other one for)
Wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Most of the ones I see seem to be either junk or ones you keep in the car..

I don't need a tank, and I would like 120v over batteries, as it will never leave the garage. also if you can thread on the fittings that would be awesome.
Hoping to keep it under $200.00 bucks

No tank means you are waiting a long time while filling tires (minutes instead of seconds). I don't know of many 120V no-tank compressors. The one SS posted seems fine. There is always the venerable Porter Cable pancake that is loud as hell but surprisingly durable. Fits your budget new and you can often find them used for cheap. If it works, it works so pretty easy to test.
 
I have one of these airbrush compressors dedicated to the air locks on my 4-post lift so I don't have to fire up the big compressor. It tops out at 57 PSI, but I can't say how long it would take to fill a tire as I've never used it for that purpose. I got it on sale for $99:


Now I see PA also sells these similar ones for $79:


 
My neighbor gifted me one of these for the garage.

I liked the idea but never thought I would actually use its. Its only powered by the Milwaukee M12 battery. I always prefer "go big or go home" meaning a large capacity tank compressor.
Boy was I wrong.

Its perfect for tires and sports equipment. You can set the desired pressure on the little LCD display and it will only inflate to that PSI.

Bonus is that the kids no loner need to ask me to pump up their bike tires or soccer balls.

Best investment I have ever made. Well, I didn't pay for it but did lend out my table and miter saws to the neighbor for a project.

The Milwaukee is quite nice. Brass screw-on chuck, and it is relatively quiet and fast for an inflator. It is capable of setting the bead if you're in the habit of mounting your own tires. It's expensive though if you're not already part of the Milwaukee M12 cult.
 
I have the Ridgid version of the Milwaukee inflator. Highly recommended. It takes less time to grab it and inflate the tires that to uncoil the hose, then reel it back in. Not to mention it's portable which is essential for track/race and just about anything else.

Here I am inflating tires/toys/bicycles with a bicycle tire pump like a chump.
 
I have a CTC tankless 120v compressor, it will inflate a car tire in about two mins, is almost alway showing up in a flyer . Think I paid $99 ish , has a rubber 25ft hose , it’s bolted onto a garage shelf and does almost everything I need for two min jobs

Just a warning about the cheap 12V mini compressors. I had the nylon gear crack and when I needed it all it did was make noise.Mini compressor 001.JPG

Was that one of the blue $20 200psi pumps? Those suck. As a first cut when evaluating small compressors, lower peak pressure is better. Nobody needs or wants 200 psi that just means it will be slow as hell. The $100 120psi compressor is far better. As with everything at CT, you can get it for half price or less pretty often.

Even though I have some M12 tools, I'd get this Rigid inflator because of the built-in 12v power supply so you don't need to rely on the battery. The lifetime warranty is nice bonus.
 
You guys got me thinking and searching.
As there is a CT right by where I work, I use it often for work related purchases and grab the CT cash.
So I did some checking and a phone call later I got this.

If you want my old one you can have it, compressor is perfect, just the tank has a hole, the could be welded, I'm just to lazy...

And I don’t know how to weld. But I’ll ask my dad. Send a pic if you can.
