Happycrappy and -D-, (and others) thanks for your responses. Romper Room is an off topic discussion section of a motorcycle forum where people can discuss/debate issues of interest. That's what's happening here. I'm explaining how I feel and others are doing the same. By challenging views contrary to mine, I'm giving the opportunity for those to explain their thinking. It's interesting to me to hear the rationale from the other side of this issue.

Oh, I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood your appetite for understanding when I read that my ethics could be bought for 100 bucks. You are anything BUT willing to understand views contrary to your own. Have I criticized you for wanting Ford ousted? I thought not. In fact, I think I was pretty clear when I articulated that nobody likes any of the scandals surrounding Ford, but I merely predicted he would see continued success in the next election. The reason I would support that, is that in the grand scheme, people would rate his substance issues would pale in comparison to many of the other issues politicians are guilty of. I would suggest to you that many people in positions of power do a lot more than you seem capable of understanding; Ford simply got caught. He fought for what he campaigned on, and if anything people ought to be ****** that many council members ignored a popular vote and fought the mayor on many key points. It is not surprising that the very elitist few that didn't want him in to begin with are smacking their lips over his demise, but I can't help but feel that the working class will be sympathetic to all of the liberties that were taken with him well before any crack allegations. Real people and real problems speak clearly to most Torontonians, and elitist, patronizing views of being bought for $100 just polarizes the issue further. Combined with the sheer volume of votes he got before, it'll be a very interesting election to say the least.

I could simply agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. ;)

So part of your argument is that Ford just got caught doing what all other politicians do, so its irrelevant, let's overlook it, and move on.

i would say, when we are lucky enough to catch a slimy politician doing something illegal, then let's punish them, regardless of their politics.

It's a real shame that you continue to read only what you want to and not what all was written.....no I did not say to overlook it, it's irrelevant, etc. If you actually read the whole post instead of selecting a small excerpt, I am saying that it is not inconceivable for people to rate his **** ups lower on the ladder compared to what politicians do daily. Understand? For many people, substance addiction is far easier to rationalize than a billion dollar rape provincially, or countless other examples of politicians up to no good. Is that a total forgiveness? Hell no, he needs to make some significant changes, but to say he hasn't been punished at all is laughable. I suspect that most people in his position would have eaten a bullet by now. Politician or not, people are extremely quick to ignore the human component.

Either way, the debate needs to at least acknowledge one simple fact: People will decide their political choice for their own reasons and their own agendas. I would never attempt to sway someones political view for MY reasons. Your continued arrogance that I am wrong is comedic at best, and if you are as old as you have indicated in other posts, I would expect at the very least that in your life you would have learned a few things about these topics. Clearly I am not the only one who can see that people are sympathetic to Ford, or these debates would not exist if that was not the case. It almost makes me think that the lefties are scared he WILL win...

Yes, I'm glad you noticed the winky. I am not always so serious.
You could lighten up a bit. You complain about my condescending tone towards Ford Nation but you take quite a few personal rips at me in your posts. Pot/kettle

As far as I am concerned I hope he wins the next election cause I looking for some good weed and knowing his support for the dealers its all good. Ford you the man check your messages. Respond like you promised and hook me up.... ALEX ALEX :D

It's interesting and scary that he's getting so much support. My fear is a split vote and some other whacko getting in. While I like many of his ideas loose cannons scare me.
