Please sign my petition to allow straight pipes in Ontario for rider safety

I've been riding on the roadways since 1984. Time after time, loud pipes have saved me from near fatal collisions from oblivious drivers both on my sport and cruiser bikes. Factory horns are not loud enough to hear in a car, especially with music turned up, distracted drivers texting or talking on their cell phones, hearing impaired drivers or inexperienced drivers. It lacks common sense for lawmakers to determine that a horn will get a drivers attention over loud pipes. Considering the bodily harm caused to riders over drivers in a collision, this law is not only ridiculous but works against the best interests of motorcyclists. A loud crack from a straight/drag pipe immediately gets a driver's attention and acts as a back up safety precaution for motorcyclists. Ask a rider with factory pipes or even straight pipes how many close calls they've had because drivers not only don't see them but don't hear them.

Please support this endeavor and sign this petition to support legalizing straight pipes in Ontario to prevent motorcycle fatalities and protect the lives of all motorcyclists on the road. I am looking for a goal of 100,000 signatures and hope to set a precedent in Ontario that will be a basis to change laws all over Canada and the US. Your support is appreciated.

I know you're going to get flamed for this, but I'll sign it.

I've found clutch in, rev limiter bounce gets the attention of a retarded driver easier than the horn does. However, the exhaust really is faced the wrong way for it to be used effectively lol

Tell ya what, I'll sign your petition for straight pipes when you sign my petition for free hearing aids, ear protection, window replacement, spilled drinks and other impacts of thoughtless morons riding around with straight pipes on their motorcycles because they haven't the skill to ride safely and haven't the wits to realize that having loud pipes while wearing no protective equipment and riding a bike that can't handle or stop is not a recipe for safety.

In the meantime, as has been suggested for years to those morons that think loud bikes save lives, tape your horn button down and ride on, sister!

Just install a stebel and then you only have to annoy people at the right time.

Its cheaper and better for your bike and won't piss off every person you drive by.

Thank you. You saved me a lot of typing. There's pipes and then there's stupid *** drag pipes and such on things like harleys. No one wants to hear that ****. I hope they all keep riding to forks and getting nailed. Instead of spending money on drag pipes they should maybe invest in lessons to develop skill.

Please forgive me for saying this, but this is absolutely ridiculous. The number of 'close calls' are not determined solely by one factor (the noise the motorcycle makes), but on dozens on other variables.
 
Then what is the purpose of sound regulation/laws?
There are a few more useful petitions that could probably keep you safer e.g. allowing bikes in the HOV lanes on the highway.

You want to petition something? Petition MTO/DriveTest to include more motorcycle awareness in their tests and driver education material.

+1 Why we're not allowedto ride on the HOV unless we have a passenger puzzles me. It'd be nice too if we're aloud on that GO lane on the DVP.

Even Harley girls can be doochebags, who knew? Crack of the throttle to alert drivers my azz. I can hear you open pipers on the streets at night from my backyard.

Harley's aren't just a bike. They're a lifestyle. All of them think like this. Come up to forks and surrounding areas some weekend. Groups of 20 or more of these ******** roll through my town and you can't hear a damn thing except them cracking their slow heavy tanks with open pipes. Yes... let's sign that petition :rolleyes:
