Husky (Lucky) bit my dog! Owner is Asian female (Melissa Fung)

Hi,

I was at the dog park at Kennedy/McNicoll around 6pm last Friday. A white and grey colored husky called Lucky bit my one year old German Sheppard in the neck. I quickly got the owner's information and rushed the dog to the emergency clinic. Although it was bleeding, the veterinarian said we were lucky no major blood vessels were punctured and he helped us shave and clean it up, and put him on an anti-bacterial ointment and Cephalexin tablets.

I have been trying to get a hold of the owner of husky but she is not picking up my calls nor replying my text messages.

The owner is Melissa Fung a younger Asian female and the dog is:

  • White and grey colour
  • Left and right eye color are different
  • Thin and tall build
  • 2 years old

She left in a beige colored Toyota Camery (1996 to 2001) driven by a Chinese male with the license plate AJHP 888.

Any suggestions on what action I can take? I've already called animal services and reported the dog.

Here is a link to how the car looks like :

Please be on the lookout for this dog and the owner when you take your pets to the dog park and keep them away from her!

I added a picture of the dog as an attachment!

I have no suggestions but a Toyota Camry driven by a Chinese male won't help narrow down your search. They all drive the Camry.

You can take down this post to start with, and call the police instead.

I spoke with my friend who is a Metro Police Officer and he said there is nothing the police can do. The only avenue I have is to report the dog to animal services and then through the small claims court system.

So now, you know what to do. Document everything and keep veterinary records as they'll be useful in court. Make sure you ask for costs.

So your dog is fine? Did you have to spend a fortune?

Im not a dog owner so I don't know the 'etiquette' of all this stuff.... but is it really that alarming that one dog bit another at a park? They're animals, afterall.

A couple hundos. I am just mad because she is not being a responsible dog owner and I am out the money because she couldn't control her dog.

If your close friends .. he can " locate " the owner via the license plate info you posted on a public forum.

The case should be documented in case of it being a pattern. You have your rights to go after compensation for expenses etc.
I suggest this be moved to a dog forum for more accurate advice.

LOL I know that plate #, it belongs to a car that very nearly got me killed last year. I'm pretty sure I reported it to Road Watch last year. Not related, but perhaps irresponsible character gets passed down.

Are you sure there wasn't a sign at the dog park entrance that clearly states that you are entering "AT YOUR OWN RISK"?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Usually at these parks , they are use at own risk. I doubt he has a leg to stand on. Get a BJ from her and move on

I'm gonna get flamed bad for this, but what breed do you see in the news now all the time? A Husky...for mauling other dogs, or for killing babies. Don't believe me, google it. I stay far away from them. As for some of the comments in this thread, clearly you guys don't own a dog...and if you do you truly aren't a "dog person". To OP, nail her good...hope your doggie heals quickly.

The OP owns a German Sheppard, dont they get tagged with the same BS too?

Im a sheppard own BTW.

That is only so no one can sue the park.

I don't think that's exactly true. There are certain risks that you accept when performing certain activities or being in certain places. For instance, if you K.O. somebody while playing golf, and you were not being grossly negligent, they really can't sue you.

As for the OP, you can try suing for the money but I'm not sure where you're going to end up with that. Dog parks are off-leash and unpredictable. It doesn't take long for two dogs that have a disagreement to cause damage. You can try to find out if it's a problem dog/owner, but really, they're risky places.

It's unfair to generalize the breeds and any dog owner would know that. The owners are the problem.
