Playstation 4

THAT is what you're basing your opinion on? Going to an overpriced store which rip ppl off? How about ppl who sell them on kijiji for 50% off? Tons of people finish a game and sell it for $30 to recoup some of the costs...

In the end, open your mind and realize just because it doesnt fit your small narrow view doesnt mean the rest of the people should be limited.

"well, i dont see a problem with limiting cars to 200hp....i drive a 90hp POS, so should everyone else" arguments get really old.

I guess I am just the lazy type. Having to go to kijiji and look around at used titles, then have to e-mail them and converse, then meet up just to buy a few games ? Not my cup of tea. Granted I don't buy many games, just the ones that are the epic quality, so it's much easier to just go buy said game and come home with no hassles. I know you have flea markets and other avenues to sell used games but again, the games I buy, I love, then generally hang on to for collection purposes.

^^ Love it....again, the "i dont use it so i dont need it, nor does anyone else" mentality....

I dont want every company out there to have a database of things we buy and use, its bad enough as it is. I want to be able to go and pay cash.

This push towards getting rid of hard currency, not just in gaming ofcourse but in everything is pissing me off...Its already way to easy for a system to crash and you loose all your ones and zero's that defines who you are and what you're worth.

Come on now, don't put words in my mouth. I acknowledged that there are people who still rely on physical media, and I understand that some people are just set in their ways. There are, however, efficient, secure, and reliable means of digitally reproducing the content you currently buy on physical media. They key there, being REproducing.

You lose or destroy a new game disk, and you have to shell out for a new copy.

Even if the system crashed it logs what you paid for so you can just download it again. Try telling BestBuy "My PS3 crashed and destroyed my game disc, can you give me another for free even though I paid for it over a year ago?".

Just replaced our original $ 1000 PS3 with a slim PS3 in December $299

Guess, I will have to get a PS4 when GT 6 comes out.

You paid $1,000 for a PS3? lol - did you buy it from a release-scalper?

Killzone 4 is a confirmed launch title, but I wasn't too impressed with it. I'm going to try to get one only for the sole purpose of being a release-scalper on EBay for the holiday/xmas season.

Physical media is hard to get rid of. I don't want to pay money for something I can't hold in my hands. I also don't want to be downloading 7gb per game and kill my internet connection, AND have to wait.

I've never had a disc go out on me, even when my xbox ejected a game that was squeezed in between the top of the opening and the tray, scratching it all the way on its way out (i had forgot about the game inside and moved my xbox). Still worked fine.

There's a lot of attachment to physical things...when I donate money to an organization, and they take the time to send me something in the mail (not just ads or asking for more), it means a TON more than a mass automated thank you email. I signed up for organ donation and was upset I didn't get a donor card lol.

It's also satisfying to have a stack of games for all the collectors/hoarders out there

In terms of dling games, they were mentioning something like the whole game doesn't need to be downloaded. The first bit (assuming its a single player campaign or whatnot) will be stable. Obviously the bare essentials will need to be downloaded, but the whole point is that you can play and still be downloading the rest of the game. Pretty cool.

HOWEVER a lot of parents and uninformed people will see their bills sky rocket if they're with the big companies. I only have a set amt to download (300gb as an example). If Blu-ray Discs are something like 60gbs (don't quote me on the exact number) that takes a huge chunk of my bandwidth.

I understand the idea that people want to be able to hold something in their hands, but eliminating the costs of physical media as well as the middle man such as EB, best buy, future shop, etc should decrease the price of games on psn. However we will never see the complete elimination of discs, because what about Christmas, birthdays, gifts and events? You can't digitally wrap up a cloud game. They're will probably be a push where you can transfer discs to your hdd, such as that on Xbox 360.

MGS4's ISO size is approx 30GBs lol, that's a long time to wait to play a game :P; but most games nowadays are in the 6-12GB range (Dead Space 2 is about 8-10GBs while Far Cry 3 is only 7GBs). It all depends what the game needs, MGS4 is loaded with videos while Far Cry is an open world.

I love my Teksavvy internet, and Bell just introduce an unlimited package for $10 over your current bill (but TS is still cheaper). I haven't downloaded anything other than free content, I don't even have a CC attached to my account. I think I bought a $20 PSN card once for a DLC pack and used the rest on random stuff.

Basically, it's a marketing ploy: people pay more when they don't "see" the money. I do prefer a hard disc, but having a cloud is nice since you can buy a new PS3, format it, and still be able to claim all your stuff back. If you ever lost or damged a game disc you're SOL. So I guess I'm a supporter of both.

I'm barely a casual gamer, but I never buy new games. Chances are I won't buy the PS4 anyway (not until they're 50% off, used) but if it can't play used games, its a deal-breaker.

Sorry, i dont buy it....i bought the original Half Life over 10 years ago and registered the game with Steam. I now have the option of downloading Half Life for free because its still linked to my account. Whats wrong with that system? Why cant we have both?

Oh and the argument that games will be cheaper since there wont be a necessity of making a hard copy, distribution, etc etc is bullcrap. Just look at the prices of ebooks vs hard copies and realize its the same price. When corporations got called out on it, "oh, there are other factors of costs involved with ebooks...."

Look at games you can get online right now. They are the same price as the stores....right there is the proof you need that any savings will NOT be passed onto the consumer.

So you plan on buying it at release for profit, but slam people who would potentially buy it from you? Sure bud......

Like has been said earlier, steam has basically been doing this for years. You buy games and asign them to your account. I personally love it. I've already lost a few games to my console eating them, or losing them. Digitally buying them prevents this.

And lets not pretend like most major titles these days don't cost even more after the fact. Try playing any online shooter without dishing out an additional 50-100 dollars a year for extra content just to be able to find a match. ****, EA has been ****ing gamers for years with their release day downloadable content for single player games.

And for anyone worried about not being able to find games for cheap, just take a look at the sales steam has all the time. You can get something like 5 games for 20 bucks.

I can make fun of suckers as much as I want, either they buy from someone else or they buy from me, they're still a sucker. I'd stick it on EBay starting at $1.00 and let the nerds fight over it. If they exceed it (which they 100000% will) that isn't my fault, but I'll gladly take their money and chuckle as I do.

Were they not $700 plus when they were first released?
I can't remember... and I got all my PS stuff for free.

Cannot rember exactly, but an extra controller and 2 games and the bill was over $1 000 with taxes. The Sony Store was "packaging" them with HD TV's., I made a fuss so they sold me one with a few games and the controller. Nice Christmas present for the kids ;=)
