Who could have asked for a nicer late October day?
Hookey started at the usual Tim's, with me sipping coffee and looking at the map, trying to figure out where the days ride would take me....
Outside, 3 painters, having their morning coffee, commented on the glorious day expected, highs of 20. I agreed strapping on my helmet. At the gas pumps an older woman couldn't stop talking about how much fun I was going to have today, while she was stuck behind a desk.
Lucky me, I said to myself as I slid on the gloves and raised the kick stand.
Within minutes I was enjoying the fresh country air on Hwy. 30 heading out of the city. I was surrounded by a thick layer of fog from Markham to Davis Dr.
I took the less travelled backroads passing through Pefferlaw and then north on 45 to hug Lake Simcoe at Hwy 23. The fog lifted by Beaverton as my bike ate up the miles. I stopped for more photos, discovering the film of road dirt on my chrome. (I wonder why I even bother to clean it?)
I took a break with warm coffee in Orillia and when my pitstop was over - I set my sights for Southwood Rd.
The sun came out and the layers came off. My mind was in concert with the twists and the turns, as I dipped and leaned down deserted Southwood Road.
Gravenhurst for lunch....
Then through small towns and farmland, I inched my way home.
'Till the next Hookey Ride.....
