Pickup Trucks

Bronco, or Bronco Sport?

Maverick = Bronco Sport = Escape underneath, wouldn't be surprising if it shared parts, and possibly with other transverse-engine MacPherson-strut late model Fords as well.

Bronco (without Sport) = Ranger T6 pickup truck underneath, separate frame and body, longitudinal engine, double-wishbone truck-type front suspension.

Usually front-drive vehicles have wheels with much more offset than rear-drive ones do. I'm talking about the base vehicle design here, and which wheels are the primary ones driving in the base 2 wheel drive version of it.
I'll assume Bronco Sport - the guy I bought my winter tires from told me about the wheels.

Truck shopping yesterday. Ram's all still look 10yrs old in exterior styling and I don't like the diagonal center screen as the things I want to adjust are low and I have to look away from road to see them. Tundra no. I'm between the Chevy LT Trail Boss and the Ford Tremor or Lariat at the moment. Chevy and Lariat interiors are equal, Tremor is nicer/cooler. 5.3 is a dog compared to the 3.5.
Chevy guys have told me the 3.0 Duramax is the sweet spot motor for them but I typically do short 15min rides to town and don't haul much so I'm not sure if diesel would be a good choice (never had one) but they say the Gen2 3.0 is much improved over the Gen1 version and is the most fun and reliable engine they have now. Exterior styling I like them equally. 24 Chevy is about $7k cheaper than the best deal so far on a leftover 23 Tremor 402.

I have no idea about the gm diesel but in general Diesel does not like short runs. 15 minutes in you may have a little cabin heat. Getting up to full operating temp can take 45 minutes if it starts really cold and you aren't on the highway (needs the constant hp demand to build heat). Even after 45 minutes of country driving, my previous diesels would lose 10 degrees of coolant temp while stopped at a light. Add in issues with different needing a prolonged pull to regenerative and I would say no given your usage pattern. Recent diesel prices burn much of the fuel economy advantage.

5.3 is fine it's the torque control that makes it feel less powerful taking off.

Why did they do torque control? A friend that buys gm's flashes them all to remove dod, torque limits, etc. He picks the lowest power flash as he doesn't want more, he just doesn't want the restrictions (and dod problems). He hasn't had any mechanical issues.

It makes the transmission last a lot longer there is a reason they can get 400000k out of a transmission.

Working on a deal to trade the GTI on exact same model except DSG. If that doesn’t work out I’m going to Ford to try out that damn Maverick.

It’ll be like that stupid sportster. Just need to get it out of my system and convince myself it’s not for me.

Never divorce your wife , you’ll never find another to put up with your flip flopping . Unless all Polish wives are like that, then carry on.

GM is dropping the duramax 2.8 small diesel for a turbo I4 in 2024 , Tacoma has dropped the invincible V6 for a turbo 4 . I’ve had 2 Ram rentals as of late , I did not enjoy either . GM AEV Bison or F150 Lariet please next .

My wife is great, but I did promise that this flip flop will not cost more than what the GTI is worth.

Which makes it easy because the swap to the DSG isn't going to happen.

They wanted my car, plus 9k for the same year, same model, same options (except auto v manual), and they have 7,000km less on the clock.

I'll drive the manual for 9k lol.

GM and Ford use the same 10spd transmission. Yes it's the lowend torque of the 3.5 (and 2.7 for that matter) that crap all over the 5.3. Sure once you get going it's a wash but leaving a light or turning down a road I'm 1/4 throttle on the Ford and it's taking off whereas I'm 1/2 throttle on the 5.3 and it still feels lethargic in comparison. Not crapping on it, I really wanted to like it (and may still buy one) but that's a disappointing point.

A custom Tune will fix that the lethargic GM, I have an old 2008 gmc sierra rcsb with 4.8 4 speed I swapped 3.42 gears for some 4.11's and have a blackbear custom tune, all I can say is its a lot of fun, rebuilt trans at 365,xxxkm to 4l70E specs it still going with 410,xxx on the clock. my 17 f150 5.0 6 speed felt like a dog with 3.55 gears, 5 star tune and its all business now, big difference from stock.

I would assume that would void the warranty though.

As I recall the duramax is/was a nightmare to work on. Everything was in the back so it has to be dropped.

How do pick up car drivers keep their stuff safe in the bed when away? Obviously a tonneau cover is good, but if my wife tossed her cleaning equipment in there…stuff is going to slide around all over the place…

She uses one of those thin vacuums, a few mops, and her cleaning products with buckets.

Maverick has slots for wood separators to be installed so I would assume that’s an option. But a sliding shelf would be ideal…although it would take up about half the depth capacity.

Ratcheting bed divider.

They make a sliding shelf , it takes about 4” and is expensive, they make a very cool drawer system , it takes half the box depth and it’s expensive . I have a tonneau cover on that keeps things out of sight . You can make a grid of 2x4 or x6 so stuff doesn’t slide , which pulls out when you need all the box . Or put temperature sensitive stuff in the folded back seat .
