Petition e-4701 Non Confidence in Government

What do we have now? A left coalition.

Coalitions work for the parties that can form a govt, they don’t always work for the people, and they can never follow a mandate.

I’d prefer no coalitions, and if that’s a non starter, a democratic process that allows a riding to recall their elected representative. At least that way MPs won’t be forced to vote on party lines just to keep power.

We do currently have a coalition yes, but that’s not the norm like it is in other countries with different systems. Israel is currently in the trouble it is because to stay in power a coalition with a hard right ultra orthodox party with undue influence was necessary for Netanyahu to stay in power.

So why bother with elections then if you can just petition to remove a sitting prime minister forcing another general election? You’d have a petition every few months ad infinitum. It’s la la land and most people understand that.

Times change. If the cons want to get in they should change policies to appeal to more people. That’s how politics works. Same for the libs, if they want less people moaning and bitching they should ditch Trudeau.
The purpose of recall is to change an elected official that does not fulfill the mandate that was promised. If enough of the electorate feels that is necessary, then they should have that right.

I doubt anyone that voted for the current liberals did so hoping JT would get in bed with the NDP to maintain power.

How is that different than what we have other than the rudder here is hard left?

Well there’s the small issue of dehumanisation of one segment of the population causing a de facto apartheid state which we don’t have.

No they voted for a majority of course but as that wasn’t the case a coalition isn’t exactly a nightmare scenario in this case. The cons have exactly the same options open to them in the same situation if it ever arises. Who might they naturally ally with though?

I don’t think any particular election system is ideal. They all have their faults. I just don’t think that Canada is at the top of the list when it comes to dysfunctional systems and implementation.

A random off the street would be preferable, would do a better job and would understand finances better than either of those two idiots.
His choice of cabinet ministers has been a complete shitshow. Probably the only thing that really pisses me off, the rest is just disdain.

Bingo , let’s not pick the best people , let’s pick a cross section to be diverse and show people how special we can be .

Freeland is just a short version of Justin,

Sadly, the voting population isn't educated enough in economics and psychology to make the right long term decisions. They vote for whoever is offering them the biggest bag of candy.

With regards to referendums, how many Brits voted for the Brexit split not realizing the consequences?

This is a common situation when choosing a professional be it a financial consultant, doctor, lawyer, engineer or politician. How many people know what questions to ask the professional and would recognize the right answer? Too many people turn to the media to find out who is giving out the larger bags of candy.

Who trusts the media?

Ever visited a Rez or prison?
