Pennsylvania - Accommodations ?

What area or town is good place to stay for a few days of twisty roads in Pennsylvania. Probably be 5 or 6 of us hopefully heading down early September.
This will the groups first trip to Pennsylvania. Any do's and don't to keep in mind?

Typically we stay at the Best Western in Lock Haven. Nice accommodations and there's lots of amenities in that town, bars, restaurants, etc. and it's close enough to all the good roads in the area (RR144)

We've also stayed in St Mary's which is on the other side of RR 120/555, closer to the Alleghany State Forest and the Elk viewing area in Benezette, and a good spot to launch rides to RR 666. There was a quaint B&B in St Mary's called the Towne House, but I don't think it's in operation any more.

Do's and Don'ts: watch for wildlife at dusk.

we stayed in Du Bois, PA at the Comfort Suites in 2016...it was brand new then and an amazing hotel...close to great roads and easy to get to (righ ton the 219)..highly recommend it...

This place is in the heart of the good roads. Awesome bar and restaurant attached with a cool patio and fire pit. In PA you can purchase beer at the bar to go too.

Also, Williamsport. Lots of options for hotels and food/bars. Stay away from The Cell Block unless you are in your twenties and want $1 drinks. :)

Agreed about the wildlife - no riding after dusk.

I always stayed in Coudersport as instant jump off to 44/144 ( the red line ) and an easy half day drive from Sauga if border not too busy. I often left Friday so almost a long weekend,
State College further south has a ton of accommodation and a nice jump for further south but a stretch on a weekend.
Don't even THINK about riding after dusk and be cautious in early morning....soooo many deer.

Not specific to the area but I find Super8 has good breakfast and excellent wifi and most times I can park the bike just outside the room in full view.

that brings up another question/concern. What do you do about bike security?

Have stayed at the Big Oaks Inn, previously known as Paul's motel, right on the outskirts of Coudersport.

Depending on where you are staying and what you are riding, it’s not usually a concern. You can always cover it (out of sight, out of mind) or just a disc brake lock should suffice.

i second Dubois but the place shuts down on Sundays....not a lot open. Great roads all around, The ride to Gobblers Knob is fun.

Avoid the Rodeway Inn, Altoona Pa.
The only thing that could make this **** hole worse, is bedbugs. I'm in a room here now.

that was a popular spot a decade ago but getting very run down.....hopefully has been refurbed.
Great location and instant fuel fill up.
A fire last year
Fire Damages Big Oaks Inn in Coudersport but only in the front area ...those back units were pretty dire. Looking much improved.

We stayed in Dubois a couple of years ago.
Rented an entire house on AirBnB.
It was nice leaving the bikes inside the garage overnight.
Place backed onto a golf course - lots of deer watching from the deck.

We usually stay at the Royal Inn in Ridgway, great prime rib. Comfort Inn in Williamsport or better still The Genetti, has great character.
