I just came back from a 3 day run down to the PA wilds. I stayed in Coudersport one night and camped at little pine sp the other night. I got off I-81 at Watertown and took 3 and 14 west and south. I recommend the gorge walk at Watkins Glenn, it's literally like being in a LOTR movie.
Stop at Glenn mountain Cafe and bakery for coffee and sammies. I can't say enough good things about the Cobb 2.0 breakfast sandwich on a everything bagel. Buy 2.
Grab 414 south to corning then get off just south of the PA border and start riding the windys. If you are riding 666, take an hour and stop by the zippo museum in Bradford. Very interesting.
I dont fret about security concerning my bike. My tank bag is always still there in the morning and my bags haven't been tampered with. I dont cover it. Sometimes I forget to lock my bags, latched, yes, locked,no. No one fiddles with them ,nothing has ever gone missing.
I dont lock my helmet when I stop or pacsafe anything. Not even in Mexico. My dry bag was always still strapped to the bike when I returned.
I took a nice route right out of Coudersport heading north, thought I might try a different road, it was lovely. You can make a bunch of nice loops in the PA wilds.
I have several Rand McNally easy to read maps that show the small roads nicely. Although I know I'm the dinosaur still using paper maps.
If you have any questions about taking non highway roads, ask away.
