Ontario plans to trial universal basic income

Universal income model works. Social services in general work. Look at scandinavian countries. highter tax rates but much more encompassing social services which leads to a much higher life index.
Dont listen to what capitalist corporate media tells you. These models have proven to work. Ask anyone who lives in Denmark or Sweden and see how many hours a week they work or how many vacation days they get. Also ask them about the rate of poverty in their countries and youll be (maybe) surprised.

Why don't you ask the very same people in Portugal or Greece, or Spain for that matter. If you truly believe the Scandinavian countries are so much better, why are you still here?

How many people do you see immigrating to the Scandinavian countries vs. Canada/USA/Britain? Regardless of what the media tells you, its the immigration numbers that paint the accurate story. Socialism and collective ownership does not work. It might work on a small scale (take a small company of partners for example), but it is not scalable to large entities or countries.

Numbers seem to say otherwise as far as immigration desirability is concerned.

Net immigration rates by country can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_net_migration_rate

Sweden and Norway's net immigration rates are double and triple that of the US and UK. Canada falls between Sweden and Norway. Spain's is up with Norway, and Greece and Portugal are neck and neck with the US and UK.

People go to US and UK to establish a life. Established people go to Greece, Portugal and Spain for good weather and cheap vacation property.

Haha the most predictable response possible!

Why dont i go there? Because A) It is extremely difficult to become a citizen in Scandinavian countries (no surprises there).

B) My field of work does not really exist in those countries. And since im sure youll ask, I work on VFX (CG for movies) which is a relatively new industry and is not big in those parts of the world.

But if i could live in a place where i would get a month vacation, unlimited sick days and where life index is higher than here, why the hell wouldnt i move!

Dontget me wrong, Canada is an awesome country compare to most places in the world. but is it the best? Of course not.
