In short, what we should have expected. Bigger deficits lasting until 2029 largely due to Coronavirus. Could be better or worse depending on recovery.

Once the vaccine program is stable we will hopefully see a regular pattern to plan hospital usage. Right now the restrictions are lifted and cases rise. Restrictions are reimposed and cases drop. Covid is not going away so until there is a regular pattern expect the seesaw. Covid will be added to the list if illnesses that OHIP will have to cover. Small businesses will continue to be vulnerable for a while yet, particularly the poor and entertainment sectors.

Seems more responsible than the feds. They haven't done a budget for over two years now.

They are finally doing one next month . I wonder if it will trigger an election .

Is there any truth to the HST going up?
I’ve not heard anything. But as things start pointing toward normal, expect taxes to go up wherever they can think they can get away with it.

"after JT has his majority" You're making me laugh GG

I think election will be called, the other parties don’t have viable candidates so JT will go with ‘look what we did to help you out’....he might open up the purse a bit more with some additional funding / programs just to cement his victory.

and then BOOM! Right in the bum and no kiss goodnight once it comes time to pay up.

majority here we come

Agree. Also in times of uncertainty the risk of an unknown is too great. Wazzis name or the other wazzis name.

The devil you know vs the one you don't.

I’d prefer to keep it as a minority. Hopefully the opposition don’t call a snap election.

I think there is a 90% chance JT budget will be full crazy with not even an attempt at saying no to anything. The more he promises, the more sheep vote for him as they want a piece of the magic money tree. The crazier the budget it, the more likely the other parties have to vote no and kill the gov't. Think about it, the two opposition choices are agree with the insanity which disenfranchises their base and leaves JT in charge with an open wallet, or vote no which triggers an election where JT wins a majority. No good way forward.

NDP has said they won’t trigger an election until pandemic is over (mass vaccinations).

That's one thing to say, but it is another to stick to in the face of a monster. Budget isn't coming out for a while, we'll have a decent percentage vaccinated by then. What if JT budget says he is doubling national debt next year (entirely possible with that knob), does Singh have the stones to call him a power hungry maniac?

He’s been attacking Trudeau for awhile now but has been sticking to his guns. “People are struggling, now is not the time for an election.”
He’s betting big on lots of “for the people” votes and words, hoping it turns into more seats down the road.
