Man that's scary... glad you and him were okay.

Last video posting... you mean for this thread or for good?

I'm gonna say it's Mike last track day and likely his last video he will make on the track. Tuesday he put everything up for sale which would be a good indication that he won't be back. I think it's a shame to lose such a good rider at TMP. He was passionate about riding the track and for him to lose that is sad. I enjoyed being at trackdays with him.:(

Seriously one of my favorites to watch!!!

Ya, Mike you sure got into a great groove, very smooth and fast rider.
I would do my best not to have one silly kid with one silly move stop you from doing somthing you obviously have a blast doing.
Its a long winter to contemplate next season and since you havent ridden any other track in Ont, youve only scratched the surface of this sport.
Im hoping youll reconsider and renew your equipment this winter and continue to come out and have lots more fun.
We only get one life to live, no sense dogpaddling thru it.

Thanks for the support guys.... I did have a blast and have tons of memories / videos to prove it.
Tons of other hobbies that have been put on simmer since I started track riding two years ago, lots to do only a lot less dangerous. lol
Most of my stuff has been sold off already... if the bike doesn't sell this weekend I will be holding on to it for more money in the spring, will not reconsider the decision I have chosen tho, it's best for me and my family.

Have fun ride safe!

I can totally relate to that. I've had all the parts to build my own guitar for 3 years now waiting for me to buy a bandsaw, which is waiting for me to build a workshop to put it in... haha... that's just one of my many projects that are on hold, and I keep adding more!

I really enjoyed your videos. You're definitely a great rider. Good luck getting through the project backlog! ;)

Scary to know someone else's actions can cause very serious consequences for you. Easier to put up with your own mistakes.

That guy was over shooting the corners all day. He was drag racing all day long. He drop the bike in the morning session also in the same corner.

Sorry to hear you are leaving track riding, but I can totally understand. I didn't ride on the track from around 2004 until last year and I only did one track day then. I have gotten back into it a little more this year 3 track days so far and bought a dedicated track bike again. For me hobbies ebb and flow and motorcycling is one I am once again interested in. You may decide to do it again in a few years or not.

And according to what I've read here, he was warned by several people to cool down before someone got hurt. Obviously listening isn't a strong suit of his either.

Does anybody know who this guy is? I take it he's not on this forum...

Well thats just great Mike, after viewing your videos and meeting you on Saturday, I was counting on some track tips next spring. So thats not going to happen, i even lent my gopro battery to you. Well all kidding aside Mike it was a pleasure to meet you and watch you ride tmp like you were on rails. I hope you will reconsider, but i know we also have to do whats right for ourselves and family. Peace Steve

I was the one on the green Kawasaki bike and i saw what actually happened. what happened to mike was inexperience. mikes bike was setup alot better than the other guys bike for this track.

The other guy basically came over to me and said he's been pacing me all-day. He told me my pace was pretty good for a stock 600. We basically agreed to go out together to thru down some hot laps. We spoke briefly about his crash earlier in the day but i never gave it much thought after that. When it was our turn to go up he was waiting for me at the track entrance, which i told him to do if i wasn’t there before him

I didn’t even see mike when i was entering the track.
As soon as i got on the track i started to increase the pace rapidly. I was amazed that after lap 3 i was still in front i was waiting the entire time for him to pass me down one of the straights especially when he was on a thousand.

I kept on increasing the pase little by little. Finally on lap 5 i think the guy passed me but only because i missed a shift going down the front straight which made me loose my drive other wise than that i would have been out front.

Once the guy got by me i almost ran into the back of him in turn 1 because he had low corner speed which again made me loose more drive out of turn 1, after that mike got by me and the guy ran it wide going into turn 2 carrying way too much speed or he just out braked him self. I tried to go on the inside but he came over and blocked me and again i lost some more drive.

At this point it was him against mike and what i saw was the line which mike took going thru the chicane is a little different from the line i took/take.Mike ran his bike over the turtle and the other guy followed him over it as well.

What happened was the suspension setup that mike had was softer which abled mikes bike to handle the bump well which in turn kept his chassy settled and compliant,

The other guys suspension was setup harsh, so when he went over the turtle his bike/back tire bounced in the air and by that time he had to hit the brakes and he endowed into the back of mike and not to mention he was carrying a lot of speed.

I can't really blame the guy that hit mike he just didn’t know what mike knew about bike setup he was trying to follow a faster guy but what he didn’t know is going fast requires you to know how to set your bike up so you can go fast and this is what happened to Mike. you had an inexperience rider trying to beat an experience rider.

I feel bad for both guys but i hope mike comes back which i think he will. it may not be next season but i think he will be back plus his decision was not only based on him alone he also has a family as well and i am pretty sure they played a part in him making this decision.

Awww, crap Mike, you sure you really want to take up stamp collecting? :lmao:

Gonna miss you man! By sheer coincidence met you this year and did 3 track days, and was mesmerized by your blistering pace.

Thanks for the encouragement, vids, and pointers.

All the best.

Sandro.

From what I've seen, heard and read the guy that hit Mike is the only one to blame. It's people like this who should be selling their track gear and should be sticking to posing at Kennedy Commons and Timmys car parks.
