NY motorcyclist dies on ride protesting helmet law

even with that, i'm still against speed limit laws and drunk driving laws. just another thing that the government has to put its nose in.. speeding/drunk driving laws or no laws, i won't go 100kph thru a school zone at 3:15pm impaired, but it's my choice.

Those laws don't compare to helmet laws, as they expose bystanders to additional risk whereas riding without a helmet only adds risk to the person who makes the choice.

Just another candidate for the Darwin Award!! I'd vote for him.

It would be a Darwin moment if the guy thought he would be safer without a helmet. Rather, I think he just accepted the risk in order to experience the ride the way he liked. He made the same choice we all make when we hop on the bike instead of taking the cage.

This isn't anywhere near worthy of a Darwin Award.

No, that's not the argument.

Now you're just trying to look dumb.

Pardon me?!? Is that the way you respond to an argument? With name calling? Besides I was discussing with Paul his feeling that riding was dangerous. What does that have to do with you?

We're too far gone now. So many safety labels and regulations have been put in place that at this point half the world's population would disappear very quickly if it was all taken away.

Paul was replying to a post about one person being affected by someone else's "poor decision". He gave an example of a guy who thinks that riding motorcycles is a poor decision (link to a previous post with the corresponding article). This is the real problem here, i.e. to what extent people can decide things for themselves in the society, and to which degree the society can impose limits on the behaviour of an individual.

As far as his post makes a lot of sense, yours makes none.

You don't understand my post so you resort to insulting me? I find that very insulting and offensive. Maybe if you don't understand something you should ask for clarification rather than resorting to insults? Does that sound like a better idea?

Feel free to ask for clarification, but please stop the personal attacks and insults.
