Normal car recommendation….

I'm 6.5 yrs into my '18 Ridgeline.
Nothing dumb about the spare tire location. Much better than the f150 with the cable and laying under the truck to get it out, and back.
Combined gas mileage is ~11L/100kms.
Deep under bed trunk holds gobs of stuff, and it locks.
Only gripe I have.....no volume control knob.....just touch screen & st wheel mounted clicker.
If & when they release a hybrid, I'll buy one.
Until then, it's a keeper.
Highly recommended.

If the ridge had a hybrid. It tick every box.

newer models have a vc knob.

+1 on the hybrid, thats all this thing needs and its the perfect truck for many.

p.s. The new Passport is looking pretty sweet.

I think @Evoex got an AMG wagon with your name on it.

Otherwise, why not another gti? Or you don't get the same car twice?
The C43 wagon from @Evoex is an attainable dream car for me.

However, currently I may be able to buy one…just not sure I can afford to actually maintain and keep one to the standard required.

Trust me, it was a very hard decision to pass on it. Even my wife was rooting me on to grab it.

As for a GTI, I considered swapping for a DCT but each time I found something comparable they wanted 7-9k difference between my trade and their sell price…def not worth it.

I’d rather get something usable and all rounder instead of just fun driving.

I guess it depends on your use case. Both times I've had RW flats in trucks has been partially caused by the bed being fully loaded (once on a logging road when the sidewall tore on a sharp rock, once coming down the Skyway when it was under construction and what was a slow leak from a screw turned into a fast leak when I hit the sharp edge of an exposed expansion joint). There's no way I would have been able to unload enough by the side of the road to get the spare out from under the bed in either case.

If you don't fill the bed a lot, then the Ridgeline system does make a lot more sense, driftway easier if there's nothing too big in the bed. If you do, though, having to pull it out and mount it elsewhere every time before loading is no fun. Considering we load our bed regularly, it was a deal breaker for us.

This is a funny one. I had the same complaints with the similarly designed last-gen Civic and CR-V, but then got the knob back with a new Civic. I was so happy to get it back, but then discovered I rarely used it. I'd been conditioned to use the wheel, and pretty much stayed with that. It was a big deal to lose it, but not that big a deal to get it back...

I’m quite sure Mazda makes the sexiest red…

Maybe for normal cars. I like some of the reds better on exotic cars. It's not exactly fair when the paint costs as much as a mazda though.

For instance:

As for the bulbous ass on that 3 :/. Not the best angle.

Did you sell it already? I’m sure it won’t take long if you haven’t.

That is such a sexy beast.
Gone. Had a dealer frothing at the mouth.

From here on you will be known as buzzkillington, not Greyghost.

Let a Polak dream.

A couple of YouTube vireos are asking if we need a remake of the air cooled VW concept.

KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid.

Screw power everything, entertainment systems, gut wrenching performance, $XX,XXX batteries, etc. Of course the original beetle wasn't a safety cage so some things like air bags and crumple zones are needed.

It would come with a manual on how to drive, a course not required in Ontario.

I own the CX-5 Signature and it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I'm a bit of a Mazda advocate :)

Towed with it once and it does not like towing at all. Fuel mileage went to ****. Total tow weight was under 2000lbs and it felt like I was pulling a tank. Power was still kinda there but it was definitely lacking. I would not want to tow long distances. If towing is going to be a regular occurrence, I would not suggest the CUV options on your list.

The performance characteristics between the CX-5 and CX-50 are very different. I find the former way more driver oriented. The CX-50 lacks driver spirit and performance in comparison and felt floaty while the CX-5 feels tight and connected to the road.

Of the CUV options, IMHO, it is far nicer and more fun to drive. Makes the Honda and Toyota very utilitarian.

Will never happen.

It's the same as enthusiast cars.

The enthusiasts / fans will kick and scream for it and if a manufacturer ever makes one there's hundreds of excuses why they won't buy one.

It's too expensive, the gearbox is wrong, the colour is wrong, the shape is wrong...

KISS vehicles aren't around simply because consumers won't buy them.

For those that want them, the old ones are still around. Back up enough and you have real frames so even rust isn't terminal.

Exactly. But new manufacturers don't build things that we don't buy.

Same as the reason why there are so many trucks. They can get around the strictest fuel economy standards, so marketing machine ramps up and tells everyone they need a truck / big SUV simply because the mfgs can make more money off them.

Now everyone wants a big truck/SUV because they were told they're needed to go to Walmart / Starbucks.
