NooB Rides 1.0

Looking forward to it! If anyone is heading to Kennedy from DT I'll ride up there with you.

a bit of advice.....whom ever is leading....you've got about a month to get some route's planned out...try for about 6.....or you could just stand around asking...."where you wanta go?"......"dun know"......."how bout TIMS"

Qfl...no timmys but Starbucks would be a bit of a longer ride then tims:p

Seasons way too early and yeah gonna ask some people for local routes.

As for the question about being m1 friendly you must have completed the motorcycle course and logged minimum 1000 km on the bike as stated in the first post.

No highways and pace will be chillaxed.

I'll pm people that are willing to assist later and do some test rides with them. On Vacation at the moment and enjoying the nice weather trololol.

Any questions feel free to pm and bug goldietiger :)

LOOL that basically means you should have your m2 if you have taken the bike course . . . unless you failed and didnt go for retests and put 1000 km on your bike.

I strongly encourage anyone who wishes to join these rides (or ride AT ALL for that matter) to get that M1X course under your belt first, and spend significant time riding solo and learning your own capabilities, before attempting to join a group. This is for your own comfort & safety as well as that of the group itself. I was unexpectedly put in lead of the first group ride I ever joined, and I think the only reason it didn't turn into a disaster is because I'd taken the course to heart, took my time, and had other more experienced group riders with me who were able to help.

Learn ALL your hand signals, not just the basics, they're more important in a group ride than you may realize. Make sure when you SEE a hand signal, you repeat that signal so the rider behind you sees it as well. Also make sure you're familiar with group riding etiquette/procedures, perhaps most importantly riding positions (STAGGERED vs SINGLE FILE, etc) and the breadcrumb rule. If you don't know what those last few things are, you need to read the link UJelly posted in the OP. Above all else, ride your own ride, and ride within YOUR limits. Nobody benefits from someone riding carelessly/dangerously trying to impress others. If you aren't comfortable with the pace, or road conditions, etc, slow down and notify one of the leaders/sweeps -- we will be watching out for you, and will wait for you, but it helps to know if there is any kind of problem.

I don't prefer to lead rides, but I will gladly help out as mid-sweep or sweep when available. That said, I will probably put together a few rides as well once I've come up with some solid routes. There are some excellent scenic roads further out from the city, just a matter of making the connecting routes between them interesting as well.

Making sure people know how to brake in an emergency would be a good idea, otherwise you'll have a noob pileup.

Also emphasize spacing between riders, more as they are still learning given the chance of pileups. New riders need longer "heads up" time.

This sounds completely pointless at this point... I mean seriously... So much risk, and for what?

To meet new people I guess...? Or... Group ride first timers?
