Ride a K1300s and tell me you don't need it
5 seconds? Most racers I know would kill to improve their best lap time by 5 tenths of a second! You dont even need a 1000cc in racing. The lap times between 1000cc and 600cc is less than 5 seconds on most tracks.
amen to thatI used to share the same sentiment untill i test rode a 1000cc.

We were talking about this at the bike show. All the old timers, wink wink nudge nudge, started on 50s, 65s, 80s. Hell, a 100 or 125 was your second bike. Now a days lots of people start on 600-1000cc superbikes. He told me he was looking at a GSXR750 for his first bike. I told him the GSXR600 would be fine, and he countered with "well when I sit on a GSXR-750 it feels better....cause of my size."

A young kid at my work noticed my bike on my Desktop background.

He's not that much larger than me. People just want the bigger/better bike, cause as much as it isn't for some of us....Motorcycles are an "image" thing, and some people out there lack the common sense to make the right informative choice.
I agree with the statement made in the OP's original thread. No one "needs" more than a 600650cc bike.
I regularly say my VFR750 is more than enough
