No Border testing....

Looks like no testing required after this month to re-enter Canada.

The federal government is expected to announce as soon as tomorrow that travellers entering Canada will no longer have to take a pre-arrival COVID-19 test, CBC News has learned.
Sources with knowledge of the matter confirm Canada is removing the testing requirements at airports and land border crossings.
Currently, travellers entering the country must show proof of a negative antigen or molecular test within a day of their flight or arrival at the border.
That testing requirement will be dropped by the end of the month, the sources said.
The move comes two years into the pandemic as travel picks up and provinces and territories
ease restrictions involving vaccine passports, gatherings and masks.

What about the vaccine requirement though?
Governments have decided Covid is over. Interestingly, in Ontario if you are a close contact, triple vaxxed proceeds with life as normal, double vaxxed gets a 10 day quarantine. I don't remember that change making the news.

Hopefully the US drops their testing requirement soon as well.

No testing requirement to get into the US. We drove to California over the winter, the only thing they asked us is if we were vaccinated. They didn't even ask for proof, just verbal confirmation. And definitely nothing about supplying the results of a recent COVID test.

Bit by bit the restrictions / requirements for travel will quietly go away.

Government has stated that COVID is over, and now everyone is on their own.

I expect the federal vaccine requirement for travel to be dropped fairly soon.

As long as they don't change the definition of "fully vaccinated " to mean 2 doses and a booster...

I heard a short clip of an interview with the head of Pfizer saying that we will need a fourth booster and that their vaccine isn't as effective against omicron nor does it last that long...

If I have to get a shot every year like the flu shot IDGAF.

I think the the vaccine for entry to the country requirement will be around the longest and will likely be the last COVID-19 restriction to be dropped.

Ontario already has in practice. If you are 18+ and a close contact, you need to be fully vaccinated plus a booster if you want to avoid required isolation period. Technically they didnt change the definition of fully vaxxed but they did require more shots to be considered lower risk than unvaxxed.

Great news! We booked our trip to Disneyworld as soon as this news came out. We're triple vaxxed and will be driving down. We've been waiting for the testing requirements to be dropped and can't wait to get on the road. Let's hope there's no flip/flop before our return in mid-April.

My first trip to the US is scheduled for Mar 31. Planning to drive to the Syracuse area to watch a sporting event and give my boat a hug.

Been exactly 2 years since I set foot on US soil.
