No Border testing....

nope

the arrivecan portion isn't mandatory for land crossing - because they know it's not legal to force people to use an app.

source: crossed probably 10-15x since they started bitching at people to use it....have never used it, will never use it.

honestly if you don't feel like its an issue, I guess that's up to you - but if you just cower to any restrictions, you deserved to be locked down this whole time while people in many US states just lived normal lives and had similar death rates per person as Ontario...

"how come lane splitting isn't legal here?"
"how come we get ripped off for insurance so badly?"
"how did HTA 172 pass and stay?"

I guess you can pass on ArriveCan at a kind border. I tried today and it's doable.

All you do is take the yellow slip the kiosk agent gives you, then park at the the intake office to review your status and learn about ArriveCan. Hopefully the line is short, the interview takes just under 10 minutes.

I took the kiosk agents advice, downloaded the app and did tge checkin. Took about 5 minutes, all I needed to do was show the confirmation code - on my way in 5 minutes.

A couple of freedums were exercising their right to enter Canada at the Rainbow Bridge.

When I left they were still explaining the rules to a couple of interested CBP fellas, they hadn't started their entry process yet. The border guards must have thought the freedums had covid, they both put on rubber gloves.

I'm riding down south in 2 weeks and coming back 11 days later.

I'm confused here - what exactly do I have to be worried about by installing the app on my phone? Especially if using it for the intended purpose of crossing the border and then deleting it from my phone once I arrive back in the country?

I do have 2 phones that I will bring with me that I can install the app on. So if I follow your advice I would be lying to the CBSA officers, which I'm not going to do, because a) I'm not dishonest, and b) the consequences are for getting caught lying are not worth it to me.

Is the downside of installing the app more serious than I thought? Not sure what I'm missing here.
When you install ArriveCan app JTs secret spies start creeping your phone.

They use the camera to see where you are, the mic to hear everything you say and hear, and they read your txt and email communications. They know when you are sleeping, they know when you're awake.

Same kind of surveillance Santa put you under when you were a kid, so be good for goodness sake if you decide to install the app.

If you install the app on your regular phone, you should wrap that phone in tinfoil. Best to buy a burner phone (but not a 5G burner) toss into the Niagara after crossing.

Arrivecan app and elf on the shelf share the same level of surveillance.

Just what I need...another thing that creeps me out

Don't let the idiots bully you into using "ArriveCan" - just tell them you don't have a phone you can install it on.

The more people go along with this clearly illegal (charter does not say 'you can freely leave and re-enter the country as long as you have a smartphone') BS the more brazen they're going to get.

ArriveCan isn't just a phone app, it's also available as a web site:

Use it or don't use it, it's up to you. The purpose is to expedite your crossing by asking all of the COVID screening questions up front before you arrive at the border. They don't expect everyone to use it, otherwise there wouldn't be a process in place for people who don't - which is to pull over to the inspection area and wait in line with everyone else who didn't use it, then answer all the same questions that were on the app or web site in the first place.

For me, I'm happy to answer up front so I can get waved through.

Seems pretty straight forward to me but I guess I’m just a member of the flock
