Hey gtamotorcyclists,

I'm new and from the forums I've went through so far it's a pretty great community. Hopefully I'll get to ride this summer if the insurance costs aren't so bad. Till then I'll be reading and learning from you guys! :p

I'm in the GTA area, turning 20 this year, have my G2M2 (July 2013 is a year of holding my M1 license). Got my M2 last year at Sheridan but because of the ridiculous quotes I decided to hold off until now.

Would love to start with a 1/4 litre bike but have been getting quotes around $3500-$4000 for a ninja 250 and a cbr 250 even after waiting a year .Was wondering if there was anyone with similar stats that could give me some advice as to what my options are for riding.

Thanks for reading any help is appreciated,
Dennis

Welcome!

If insurance is a ***** there are always dirt bikes ;)

Welcome

As for insurance, your options are either wait until you're 25 or pony up cowboy.

Those look like normal quotes for your situation, make sure you lube up before they stick it to ya ;) . Your only options are to call all insurance companies , find the best rate and pay up, or not ride at all and wait it out until you are 25+. Refer to the stickies in the insurance section.

Cheers.

Welcome! And sorry to hear about your quotes, Vaseline usually helps a bit at this point...

I pay 4 G's for a 125 CBR... 22yrs old G/M2. It's worth it if you make enough money!

Welcome to GTAM! :)

Haha! I'm actually considering just getting a trailer and riding at a track. I think it'll still cheaper than the quotes I've been getting for insurance.

I think by 25 my girlfriend will have definitely change her mind about letting me get a motorcycle :lmao:

Normal?! You mean people actually pay that much to ride? Ughh I don't want to wait till im 25. I'll be too old and I won't be cool anymore /sarcasm

Yeah I looked at that sticky, went through the archives to find someone in my position. Learned 1) first years usually the worst 2) insurance companies change their requirements quite frequently 3) No ones ever in the same position

You still have two choices, get a new girlfriend or pony up again cowboy yeehaaww

Also, Depends on which company you go with, I asked around on here and for newer riders State Farm seems to be the company of choice ( they take your G series license experience into account for your quote not only your motorcycle experience) so I would shop around, If you haven't called state farm, Give them a try. :) GL, hope you find something decent and get out riding :)

Gotta be licensed for at least 5 years I believe.

welcome to the forum.

do you drive a tow truck? are you russian? did you own a 250 ninga? if you answered no to any of this questions, then welcome aboard!

LOL! FYI 25 isn't old... I'm 26 and I just got a motorcycle. Insurance will slowly decrease as your experience & age increases. Advantages of being "old" ;) Welcome to the real world!

If you get am older bike does insurance decrease?

Also do you have rivalries with other local tow truck drivers? Is this your 7th GTAM account? Do you have Florida plates and have recently bought a CBR 600RR without any insurance and/or license? Do you have instagram? Do you use #YOLO #SWAG?

Welcome to the forum!

Another member here recommended Desjardins and to my surprise was just in my ballpark!

Anyway I bought a used 2002 black zzr250, but it won't stay black for long!

The bikes getting delivered this friday and i'm pretty excited. Not as excited as my girlfriend though /end sarcasm.

I'm planning to fix up all the plastics on the bike to get rid of all the scratches and small cracks it has from the previous owners. I thought heck I might as well paint it another colour while I'm at it!

Been reading the forums and everybody has their own way of fixing up fairings, bondo, abs cement, jb welds, so i'll figure that out after some late-night reads.

I was wondering where I could get automotive paint for a good price in the GTA? Does anyone know how much I'll need? A link to a guide or something would save me some time :)

Also I hate the mirrors on the bike, does anyone know what other mirrors will fit on the bike? I saw a build with CBR1000rr mirrors, does it just bolt on?

Ahh I have too many questions, well hopefully I'll see you guys on the road!

Welcome, enjoy your new bike...
