New sportster

Last I checked the FTR wasn’t really an urban cruiser style. Unless I’m getting my wires crossed.
yea FTR is completely different style of bike.

factory option for mid controls, thank god. now the only thing bugging me is just the fat front tire and single disc setup.

I can see this as my next bike when I want a more relaxed ride. ~500lbs so significantly lighter than the old vrod.

they really should make a naked or tracker similar to the FTR with this platform, shame they axed the Bronx

I don't see why they wouldn't release a sportier version of it at some point, it wouldn't take much work. It does kinda seem like they are positioning it as already being sporting though... Am I wrong in thinking that it's much closer to the Indian Scout Bobber with an extra 30ish hp, than the FTR?

a little more info/pics
$17,999

for comparison an Indian Scout ABS in black: $15,899 (other colours add $1000)
Looks like a nice package -- kinda pricy.

I expected a more competitive price, this could have stomped over the Rebel, Vulcan, Boulevard and Bolt - but at a 40% premium, it's different price category. Now they're chasing Indians.

I expected Indian pricing. They finally made the jump to clean sheet bike design, I didn't expect them to jump market segments at the same time. I think they'll sell well. I'm not sure about all of those cheaper cruiser, but aren't they 50-80 hp? HD has them wooped in that department. I'm ok with premium product for premium price. In the past, imo they were asking for the premium price and were not the premium product they pretended to be.

Higher specs, HD badge… I’m not upset about it.

I think when it comes to a HD, people are willing to pay the premium, they have always done so in the past.
From watching the video, this bike looks to be a winner. Solid performance, tasteful tech and with customization in mind.
The stereotypes of HD riders (while still true) is fading as they die off or can no longer ride. I am pleased to see this bike in HD's lineup.

I saw mid controls as a dealer option being mentioned in passing on Reddit, has anybody seen anything to back that up?

Those look to be mid controls.

I like it too ... HD seems to finally be turning the corner. Will watch the stock price.

Couldn't find accessories on Cdn site earlier today but here's the US site link:

direct link to mid control kit $659.95 USD

reasonable price. some rearsets are asking that much

That's better than the canadian site where the links are completely broken, but I don't see mid-mount on that site. I think they are still working on getting the pages completed.

If you filter on "foot controls" at the top left Subcategories link you'll see them: 2021 REVOLUTION-MAX Sportster S RH1250S Motorcycle Foot Controls | Harley-Davidson USA

Crazy expensive for sure and that stock seat looks like it's got a 1/4" of padding.
So the main page lists a bunch of random products (~200) that you can filter but the products listed are not the entire catalogue for that bike, you need to go to subcategories to see more parts? online store fail. They have a half dozen bottles of loctite listed on the main page so if there was some sort of limit, they should have used a smarter filter to put model specific products people care about in the curated list.

cruise, usb c power port, adjustable levers, 2 connections for heated gear, alarm all standard. tpms available, not sure if standard.

my my, HD where have you been??!

Tpms is available as an option. Not sure if they include it standard in a future package.

Another weird option is a cable to connect a siren to the alarm. Not sure if whole alarm is optional or if you can add a siren instead of a horn.

Wowzer...

apparently due to the VVT in the motor they are claiming zero valve adjustments needed...ever!

TFT display with turn by turn navigation, etc.

Yeah, i'm having zero issues with the pricing assuming that is sans HD aftermarket parts.
