New rider need advice please

Hah thanks iceman , really appreciate you coming through today and helping me find a bike. I agree I don't think I coulda found a better deal anywhere else.

And I'm glad I did this also I think it was the right decision. Maybe after a month of riding or so we can do a country ride before the season is over. I will keep you updated on how everything plays out.

Congrats! What bike did you end up getting?

Soul rider I agree. Honestly I didn't think I could wait a whole another season without riding. So I ended up getting a cbr125.

Its not in my possession yet but should be delivered to my house Thursday night. This couldnt have happened so smoothly without the help of iceman. He really helped me out with the whole process of purchasing the bike and negotiations. Very hard to find s person this sincere on helping a new rider.
I hope to repay the favor one day.

Sykobish defintly will keep in contact. I would appreciate some new rider lessons. I will let you know as soon as I get the bike and all my gear.

These next few days can't come fast enough. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks everyone for all the advice and tips.

Guys if you really set this up, I wouldn't mind bringing my girl who is very intent on learning on my bike, her 2 friends picked up cbr's this year and they have both been riding, just I don't want to give her any bad advice.

What kinda cbrs they pick up? And maybe in a few weeks we can set up a little lesson day from the vets here at GTAM if they are willing

Re: New rider need advice plz

I ride a 125 as a commuter bike and it's more then fast enough! I've ridden a lot of bikes much larger and been faster then the cbr can hit by 3 times... you really don't need bigger.. my 2012 cbr 125 hit 151 km and can hold 130 just fine. I ride 401 every day. I double up my lady on it too! If you truly can ride, anything can be done on any bike. Top speed isn't there, but whatever!

Re: New rider need advice plz

I have a truly hard time believing that the CBR125 can hold 130 at all.

I can barely get it to hit 100+ on fifth gear, sixth gear is nigh unusuable unless your on a flat road or downhill. It slows down on uphills on sixth gear for me.

Re: New rider need advice plz

Ok details, he picked up an 08 cbr125 in white/silver, 4000km, well maintained, never dropped, will safety as it sits, $1700 delivered. Couldn't ask for much more! Great bike, great deal. Give it a bit, we'll set something up and all get together, I'll even leave the 1200 bandit home and ride the 250 ninja. Should be fun. See you soon Vlocka, and remember I get one ride on your cbr! Always actually wanted to try one... Lol!

Haha no problem iceman anytime you wanna ride it just let me know. If.your free this weekend come by.

Large slopes up hill can knock it down to 105-110. If you can't hold 100kmph you must be fat or have the old version. Honestly, the new ones perform better even though they are heavier (don't ask me how). I ride 401 all the time. I'd gladly meet up and show you, I have no problem with that.

Re: New rider need advice plz

I haven't been able to get on the 401 yet, but my experience at least on the sideroads differs. It is the older version of the CBR125, plus I am not fat! I might have a one pack but its not bulging out yet (at least).

Just watched a video of the older CBR125 do 150....

Do I redline the **** out of the engine to do that? I've always been at 5th gear at 100km/h, and there definitely is some headroom on the rpms to rev it a bit more. Just that the sensation on the throttle is numbing near the redline, and afraid the engine will go bonkers staying at redline all the time.

That's awesome! He's gonna love the 125. I'm having a blast on the one I've borrowed. It's so much fun whipping around twisties.

Hey guys just a great update

GOT THE BIKE !!!!!!!! Last night the guy dropped it off signed papers and done deal.

Took it around the parking lot and I was amazed on how quick I picked up on riding. I never rode any motorcycle in my life and within half hour I was shifting and taking off with no problems. But I'm sure I am still a noob when I did all of that but you have yo start somewhere.

Will be getting insured in 2 weeks or so cannot wait.
I honestly rode around a parking lot for 2 hours and it felt like 30min. I practiced with the friction zone and take offs . I love it. I knew this was the right choice
Thanks to iceman I won't have to wait a year to feel this awesomeness of riding a motorcycle

Still haven't given her a name ? Any suggestions?

Congrats man!! She looks great. 08? Looks like mine but yours has the rim tape which is a nice touch.

2 weeks until you get insurance?? Why?

Ya its a 08. And 2 weeks because I got rent coming up. Gotta save some $$$. But I was wondering do I gotta pay the whole season or can I just pay monthly and is there a deposit?

Ahh cool.. Be careful riding without insurance though even in parking lots.. You don't wanna encounter a cop that's having a bad day.

Lot of insurance companies are different but i know for sure that state farm only required first month insurance and charges me a monthly premium for 12 months.

That's awesome! Looks just like the one I'm using. Mine's an 08 as well with an 06 gixxer shorty on it. =D My vehicles are male so I can't help you with a name. ;)

Thanks sliq and yes I will be careful its just one side street over from my house but I understand considering I live in a area where cops presence is known.

Freddie thanks man

And sykibish hahah all mine are female but the name will come with the riding I guess
I will let you know when I get insurance so we can start riding
