New girl rider downtown wants your advice

hi...welcome.. I wave to anything on 2 wheels.. I'm friendly like that.. :) remember.. rubber down and shiny side up!! cheers!! :)

Ahh, what I mean is the wave. I'm sad when cruisers don't wave back :)
Some people wave some dont, dont get upset. Assume they didnt see you or something. I ride cruisers and I wave though sometimes I miss someone. It happens.

Welcome by the way. If you like meets us all at Lakeshore Leslie on Thursday nights. Anytime after 7 it slowly fills up. Look for a black cruiser with a chick in either blue leather, purple mesh or *gasp* squid.

I'm sad when cruisers don't wave back :)

I'll acknowledge any rider if a) I see them in time, and b) it's safe to take my left hand off the grip.

IOW, sometimes if another rider seems to ignore you it's not personal.

(Oh, and welcome! :)

Just got my first bike. I'm a week in and have a lot to learn. So I'm looking forward to finding some downtown meetups, and hearing any and all tips for riding around in downtown Toronto.

For example... who do you signal on the road?

As a baby Ninja rider, I'm finding it tough to work out the politics.

:)

Welcome!
Just dont wave to cops on cruisers or bicycles :) tried that once.... didn't go too well. :)

Welcome aboard!

This is how I wave, if you see me hallaaaaaaaa

I wish! but most likely not.. unfortunately i barely got time to ride this season which sucks!

Repsol,
Could I have possibly seen your bike on Esplanade by scotland yard?

Wave at everyone!

And always wave back to little kids who wave at you...they are future club members! :D

I always get caught up behind a school bus, make sure to wave to every little one who waves at you ( no child left behind) then going by an elementary schools in the morning I get the "hi bicycle man" from the first graders so i wave again. Seems to take a few seconds at stop signs to finish all the waving then going to work feeling like a million dollar for putting smiles on a whole bunch of kids.

Welcome and BE SAFE. I'm a cruiser and wave to everyone unless it is a tad unsafe to do so, in that case I will try to nod and smile a big toothy grin ( uh huh, uh huh )Don't wave to scooters or e-bikes, you might cause them to hit a pedestrian on the sidewalk and I'd hate it if you had that on your conscience.

Welcome Toothless!

welcome, downtown rocks.. at least you won't have problem with parking ... i work downtown at front and Bay and there are at least 10-20 bikes parked on the front street .. and some bikes parked in the bicycle spots at various buildings.

Just a quick question,
I saw a cop giving tickets to bikes parked on a sidewalk and after inquiring, cop said that they must be parked in designated parking areas. So is bicycle spot a designated parking area?
