The New BMW R1200GS

Completely Redesigned (about time!) r1200gs stays at 1170cc but goes liquid cooled (with 125hp).

Really like it, although front end (teeth fender) needs to grow on me a bit. Love the new rims and back end - the instrument cluster was feeling pretty dated on the last gen, and looks great with the redesign. Wider rear tire, adjustable handle bars and a lot more goodies.

Likely my next bike.

I just spent the last 10 min staring over the pics, and think I've just convinced myself I'm going to buy it. Love how bulky the tank section looks - awesome.

Re: The New BMW R1200GS

Love me an ugly bike! I'd like to test one of these and the duc multistrada.

Sorry I will declare myself the idiot. Actually I am just not good at translating 2-D pictures into 3-D. The picture with the rad. Am I seeing right that it is at angle to the bike? Or what am I misinterpreting? if it is that makes no sense.

I'm reading more on it. Likely has something to do with the fact that it's a hybrid liquid + air cooled?

Bike porn. Literally. Listen to the music and notice the close-ups during the wash scene.

Re: 2014 Vstrom 1000 vs. 2012 BMW 1200GS

I never understood the fascination about riding a high end luxury adventurer through dirt poor third world countries. That bikes costs more than these people will ever make in a lifetime. Very odd juxtaposition.

Totally agree. They all go to the same places, taking the same pictures thinking they're Indiana Jones, pretending they care about the locals. It's getting old.

Rich people love throwing their **** back in poor people's faces and Africa offers that experience 10x fold.

Re: The New BMW R1200GS

Uber cool modern technology. But i would take a 90's R100GSPD any day over the new model. The older models were super easy to maintain with very reliable drivetrains and minimalist electronics to go wrong when out in the boonies.

Aren't they on their 4th recall item already ... There's 3 pieces of advice my old pa gave to me

1) never buy a German car without a warranty
2) never buy the first model year
3) make your first punch count in a bar fight

Words to live by my friends

I think the bike looks good, but it looks more plasticy then previous models. I am curious to see how noticeable the power is compared to my '10 GSA, which in my mind is no slouch, but was a big improvement over my '06 GS. Hope they dont follow a similar design cue with the new GSA whenever that comes out. That big pig is perfection in my opinion, best ugly looking bike out there.
