Nasty interaction with Bartz Moto (Cycle world west)

I think they do pretty good business and dont care , if they treat anyone like was described thats just wrong.

Guys, this is a nutty time of year in the bike business. Everybody wants their bikes all of a sudden...
They phone and say they're "coming to get it" (but probably without the 14-day notice requested).
The machines should be topped-up with nice, new premium gasoline - which they have to fetch in their truck with big jerry cans.
$2 bucks a litre (a nice round number) is not as crazy as it sounds...
Everyone here is all about how they were "not nice to you" but what's REALLY important is that we should be nice to them!
That way, they're happy and they'll look after you - do little things that need doing etc. - without fuss.
Not saying customers should be yelled at or whatever, obviously heheh...
But the phones are ringing, ringing, somebody grabbed it and didn't want to get into quibbling about the whole gasoline situation at that moment.
Notice how they treated you professionally once you stood before them in person. (Phones are the devil's invention, heheh)
Customers can be so suspicious and weaselly even at times - not saying you - just in general y'know?
Confrontational. An adversarial relationship where one is not required or warranted...
So just pay them their money - what, $10 bucks or something? - and think of it as a voluntary (or 'goodwill') contribution.
You might even mention it to them LoL - like you're happy you don't pay $2 bucks per when filling your car...
And they'd probably apologize profusely but say that's how it's gotta be (for reasons I touched upon, above).
Your neighbors/buddies etc. can be trouble, like "yeah, man - you got screwed" but you know what?
Tell them not to be so phuking cheap! Just pay.
One-time expenses aren't so bad... it's the regular (per-month) ones that'll kill ya!
So when a n00bie rider, maybe female, asks GTAMers for help, or "could you look at this please" we're convinced it's our duty to save them some bucks somehow.
Or rescue them from being 'screwed'...
But try to resist that (natural) impulse. Try to see the bigger picture. Maybe even explain it if you think they're interested.
Service Departments are keeping entire bike shops afloat these days - because it can't be accomplished over the internet.
Any 'good' help they hire wants like $20 bucks per hour. It can be a tough gig for the owners...
Look at all the shops closed-down within the GTA proper.
As an old long-time Cycle World West employee (the 'real' one, at 5312 Dundas W) there's my two cent's worth for ya...
Regards

Hi Guys,
Not justifying this guys treatment of the customer but we drain them too. Its done simply for safety. Many bikes all with 5 gallons of fuel keeps the insurance agents and fire marshal up nights. True that storing in a variable climate (hot cold hot) promotes condensation and in turn rust. If the bike is in a steady temp it wont condense in tank. That said our policy is CLEARLY spelled out in the contract . All bikes drained all bikes returned with a fresh 5L. Thats part of the service I dont charge for the 5L sometimes we come ahead sometimes we dont.
Glad you got it sorted out. I didnt even know there was someone in the CWW location and never heard of Bartz.

I'm absolutely shocked to hear this. I am a rider too, been a customer of Bartz moto (previously cycle world west) for couple of years now and he has been such a wonderful person to me, any problems i had, any questions, any concerns,he has always been there for me.My bike was in there for the winter storage as well, and i didn’t fill the tank up before dropping it for the winter.I was charged $20 extra for the gas but c’mon lets face it, i’d rather pay for this service than having rust in my gas tank and paying 10 times more later on. Whats $20 compared to a bill in hundreds of dollars? We also gotta remember, running a business isn’t easy. Esp this industry where customers are probably on his head 24/7.It was spring time, everyone wanted their bike out of storage to ride and it does put some stress on the owner, so give the guy a break.
To end this, i am a lady rider too, he never once made me feel as if i don’t know anything.I have learned a lot from this guy and i recommend everyone to him.Mistakes happen from everyone, we are all humans in the end.Its how we act after our mistakes determines who we are. I am going to Bartz for storing my bike again for the coming up winter.I will atleast have a peace of mind that my bike is stored correctly.
