Mystery Motorcycle Malady Took 4 Mechanics To Figure It Out

Well, at least the responses to the OP are worth reading.

Always. Without fail. Peggy's maintenance threads are up there with the clogged carrots, R1Timmay crash, and Boston Pizza threads for legendary status. I'm sure someone has saved and can post the link to the OG Maintenance 101 thread from the archives to bring you up to speed.

It's always good to learn something new every day.
So, today I learned.......
Don't eat delicious hot dogs with instant soup. Bike won't start.
Delicious food, from a gas station?

Classy.

My guess is Peggy took his lady out for a night on the town.

Keep in mind that Peggy is a member here too. He hasn't insulted anyone, and we need to do the same.
I agree, I'd like to see more than the same 10 people post or reply on GTAM.

My late brother was P***** with GP Bikes. After buying his new to him Honda and riding it for a couple of days it did a no start. He walked home, got his truck and trailer and took it to GP. The mechanic flicked the kill switch and it miraculously started.
Same with an acquiantence of mine, told me to help him, that his bike would shut off as soon as he tried to go. I went, grabbed his bike and it worked just fine. He didn't lift the leg of the bike up, it will start but it won't go if you leave it down.

As fun as these threads are, in all seriousness.

@Pegassus

Valve clearances tightening up can cause the bike to be hard to start, but its a slow progression.

I'd be worried about ignition timing (as mentioned above), or more troubling, the cam chain tensioner failed, and the bike jumped a tooth on one of the cam sprockets.

Then the clearances would be loose, as the valves would be open slightly at top dead center... and the valves could have made contact with the piston.

These threads are entertaining.

Pegasus, please never change...

Timing? Like spring ahead fall back. Peggy won't have time for this.
