[...] The instructor said I can handle an R6 but to be less aggressive and practice, practice, practice. So only because of how well i did in the course is why i decided to grab an R6. So for those trying to decide what bike to start on, my advice is to take the course and ask the instructors, by the test day you'll know.

Picked it up last week Friday, 99' Yamaha YZF R6. Ive taken it for a ride just around my street, currently waiting on insurance :( i hope to ride it this season.

Anyone have decent insurance at the age of 21, G license, 5 years, bike course, and clean driving record. lmk thx.

There's such a massive difference between riding a little 125 course bike on a safe, enclosed course and riding a full sized bike with balls on the city streets with a bunch of crazy cagers trying to peg you off. I wouldn't put any stock in what an instructor at a rider's course has to say about what you can handle based on what s/he saw in a parking lot.

And a HUGE +1 to everyone who commented about how ludicrous it was to buy a bike before insurance shopping.

He took the advice of a complete stranger after they observed him for a couple of parking sessions over 3 days and didn't get insurance quotes before getting a bike. Just writing that out screams something is wrong with that statement lol

I'm glad he's selling it, I'm glad he's not a statistic on the side of the 401 and I hope he continues to ride.

Just be smart about it.

'02 ss built in '06,

SOUNDS LIKE A ZZR 600 :D

$3200 does sound a little high for a 600...

statefarm is insuring me for an 04 636, $2400.. and I believe it would've been way lower if I went for a true 600cc. And yeah, I do have my car with them!

State farm insures by engine displacement and not the type of bike.
