My Dad put tire shine on my tires

I occasionally use tire shine for the sidewall only and by applying a thin coat using a rag.

Let's pray u don't end up in the fallen riders section.

This thread is turning into jokes. You're fine. Simple green with warm water and clean it. The longer you wait the harder it is....you're not going to crash and die nor would you from the example of the guy who puts a little on with a rag. I still wouldn't but to each their own. Doing a burnout doesn't fix the front your burnouts. Go there's some real stellar advice on this forum

Thats supposed to be Troy Bayliss doing a front wheel "burn out" by going 100 mph and then locking up the front wheel, but the original pic is to big :s

I've been a member long enough to know what goes down here.

Did not follow full arc of this dynamite thread so am left wondering if the perp in question doesn't know **** from shinola?

Srsly? He just told you he applies it to the sidewall only. I presume you think it's possible to somehow use the sidewall of the tire for traction on the road? I too will sometimes apply a bit of tire-shine to the sidewall of the tires using an applicator sponge - just as I do with my car.

Back when I was sixteen and didn't know any better I thought it'd be nice I armor all my hand grips and foot pegs. 50 feet later while walking my bike back home......

^^lmao

My first nice car was a 1964 1/2 Mustang with no rear seat belts. I used armor all on the seat and then put unsuspecting people back there for a nice ride down a twisty road :D

LOOOOOOL that is horrible...must try

Is tire shine just for the sidewall or do people put it on the tread too? If it's just the sidewall I don't see any reason to be worried. I can't imagine why anyone would apply it to the contact surface unless it's a show car.

Pics of mom?

LOL

Scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed with hot soapy water and a brush. About 4 times over. Went for a ride and feels fine. Thanks

It's fascinating the products you can purchase to make things worse on purpose. Take car dashboards. That matte surface that meets the window? There is a reason it is matte. It is supposed to be matte. Manufacturers worked to make it matte for comfort and safety reasons while still being possible to clean it. The reason is because if you have a shiny reflective surface there when you're driving the sun hits it and glares off the surface into your eyes which promotes driving fatigue.

A lot of people go buy armor-all and use it on their new car to make that matte surface shine.

Sometimes they will do their steering wheel too. Because a slippery non-textured grip is something you need if you want to maintain control while steering.

Welcome to Toronto.

Armourall also degrades the plastic and dries it over time. Also due to centrifugal force anything that's on the side walls will inevitably end up on the tread.
