My bike is drunk on 94 octane :(

You can jump a bike from a car battery, 12v is 12v, no matter what the amperage is. The problem is the alternator on a running car can exceed the voltage of what the components on your motorcycle are expecting, since the charging system on a bike puts out a lower voltage than the car's alternator. That could damage the bike's electrical components.

Also: if you successfully jump started your bike three times, I'd ask why did the battery die after those three attempts? Did you not let it charge up by riding it for a while? Was it a bad battery incapable of holding a charge anymore? Or was there a short that's draining the battery? Maybe a problem with the charging system?

If it's one of the latter two problems, then that issue's going to exist for any new battery you put in your bike.

Both bike and car were off. Car turned on, bike started. Happened 3 times.

So the bike wouldn't start unless the car was running while boosting?

Your reg/rect is pooched.

Your model gixxer has a known problem with the reg/rect to begin with. there's a fix with new parts and relocating them. check on the gixxer.com forum.

sounds like this is your problem, but also weird that you say you can get it started while keeping on the throttle? might be some blockage in your fuel lines. also somewhat common with gixxers.

So the bike actually starts, it just stalls? That scenario is a wee bit different.

I wonder what your idle is set at... try getting it started and keep the throttle on about 2000rpm and let the engine warm up. then let the throttle go and see if it stays on. your idle might be set too low. if that's not it, then check/replace the fuel lines if needed. I've read a lot of other gixxer owners having blockage in the lines

87 for the 600's only. 750 is 90+, which usually means 91.

Incorrect... my 2012 600's manual states 90 or higher.

Side note, when my battery was dead, I made the mistake of boosting it with a car. Ya I know, noob. Could this have affected my bike in terms of it not starting?

If car was running at ANY point of you starting the bike, check the following:
1. Check all your fuses
2. Connect an alligator clip like wire between battery(NEGATIVE) and Frame, see if it stabilizes
3. Check your voltage regulator, you can find guide on 'how-to' on Google.

Good luck. My best guess, voltage reg is probably dead, but it should not make it act in this exact way.

EDIT: also +1 for the comments below:

Man, thanks for all the advice so far guys. The battery is on the charger (first time since buying in). Idle was at 1200rpm, I sometimes change it to 1400rpm. So I could need a new regulator (dont know what that is) or have a blockage in my fuel lines? Fun times :( lol. SON told me to get injector cleaner, dump it into my tank and see if that helps. Thoughts? Doesn't sound like any of you think I should be getting all that 94 octane out of my tank like SON says.

Bring it to a more reputable shop like Speedworx or Z1 if you're going to spend money on someone to fix it; both shops don't have a single bad review on this site.

I just bought a new battery from S.O.N. they said I can just pop it in and go.

Some things don't change.....S.O.N. seem to be one of them.

On the fuel thing, always run the lowest octane you can/manual says to. Octane is just the fuels ability to resist detonation.

Your question is not clear. If bike starts but won't idle, might be as simple as a dirty air cleaner.

Honestly the info you're providing is crap.

It won't turn over, it'll turn over, its an old battery, its a new battery, you boosted it with the car engine off, you boosted it with the car engine running, it starts but doesn't idle, it idles at 1200... can you get it together for 5 minutes and put some thought into your post? Help us help you.

You don't have a multimeter? Just check the battery voltage man, you're possibly charging a new battery for absolutely nothing. Im out. Good luck.
