MTO clerks can be just plain unfair

I tried to register a used bike today. I brought all of the paperwork with me, including proof of insurance, safety certificate, ownership portion. I failed to get the job done. The safety certificate, which is filled out by hand, had one digit in the VIN that the female clerk didn't like. It was supposed to be an '8', but it looked more like a 'B'. She rejected it flatly. I told her that she had to be kidding and that I had a pen and could correct the problem instantly. How could there be any question that this did not belong to the same bike as the insurance slip and ownership? What an evil witch. I should have went back in line and tried my luck with a clerk with some common sense, but I didn't. I am having the shop (GP Bikes) send me a new one by courier. It will not get to me in time to register within 7 days. I'm hoping she spends a very long time in Hell.

That sucks man! "Wrong place wrong time"

Hey - congrats on your new bike though! What did you get?

The bike is a 2008 VTX1300C with custom denim black paint, Mustang seat, and only 9000km. I just paid Motolimo $400 to drive it up to Barrie yesterday. With the weather we are having there is no way FedEx will get it to me overnight.

Power junkies. It`s sometimes the only way they can show how important they are.

If it is any consolation, I have never seen any MTO clerk give a crap about the 7 days limitation on the transfer. If the worse happens and they reject it on that basis, just take the paperwork to another office.

Be glad she never became a cop.

I fixed the 8, and that's what I'm going to do tomorrow. I didn't know Barrie had a second office, but that's where I'm heading.

should have just went to another MTO office

Or gone to any of the tons of Service Ontario locations.

I had trouble with a new one that used to do everything BUT vehicles. So they were learning how to do all the auto stuff. I got frustrated so I eventually drove an extra two blocks and went to another one.

Hope it works. My buddy was using his last form to certify my bike and he wrote the number down wrong. Even he couldn't correct it, saying it was useless as DOT wouldn't accept any flaw in the paperwork. I had to wait for him to get new forms.

Blame it on the bike thieves.

Ask to speak to their supervisor and let them know you'd like to complain, then after its fixed, Drop the C bomb and leave.

Yes the kiosks were very convenient. Never a waiting line with 30 people ahead of you..lol Service Ontario is a PRIVATE company that franchises out the centers. There is no big franchise fee to be made off a kiosk..lol

They "claimed" the security was breached on the kiosk and it would have bene too expensive to fix it. Hire some 14 year old pimple faced kid and he could write a "secure" program in about 2 days in exchange for an XBox system, (which he would then hack)..lol

There's one on Young Street by the pub and the other is in the mall with Crappy Tire. The office on Bryne is only for licencing I think. Good luck today!

Outrageous, I had bikes hauled form Midwest USA for 600 enclosed. Those guys from gp should know how to pay attention to filling out safety specially vin and last 6 digit of it to save you trouble, every mechanic knows.
