Just picked it up a few days ago.

It's a 2021 BMW R1250RS

One of the best looking bikes out there, imo.

She picked the "Sport" model which comes in a colour called Austin Yellow, but it's really a matte gold. We've never owned a vehicle with matte paint before and I'm surprised at how much the gold catches the sunlight and highlights the contours of the tank and bodywork.

Nice vertical stainless steel accent along the top of the tank.

The Sport version also comes with a stainless steel engine spoiler just behind the front wheel. The R1250RS has the new "Shiftcam" engine with the Variable Valve Timing.

Really nice, bright TFT dash controlled by the "Wonder Wheel" on the left handlebar. It really alleviates a lot of button mashing that you have to do with the conventional D-pads that other motorcycle handlebar controllers have.

Also equipped with all the cool hi-tech packages like Electronic Suspension Adjustment, different riding modes, quick shifter, hill start control, quick shifter, cruise control, blah blah

One feature this bike has that I don't have on my GS is a special "Sport Display Mode" which shows lean angle, traction control intervention, braking power. While it is neat to have that kind of info, I'd always be trying to better my last lean angle... until I inevitably end up achieving 90 degrees of lean... :(

This bike is a direct descendent of her old sport-touring bike that she had years ago, a 2005 R1200ST. Since then, they've come out with the R1200RS in 2015 with a water-cooled engine and now the R1250RS with the ShiftCam engine, which has 36 more horsepower than her original ST.

15 years later and she's back on a Sport-Tourer and loving every minute of it!

Nice congrats! Chrome bits too... do you get to ride it?

I've ridden it a couple of times just around the block. Same engine as my GS, but the seating position is more aggressive, legs folded up underneath you, a bit of a reach forward to the bars. Nothing like a real sportbike though, typical sport-touring position. I think I read that the gear ratios are similar to the GS except for 5th and 6th which the RS is geared taller for top speed.

Also conventional forks on the RS vs the telelever on the GS, so more sportbike feeling when hard braking. I've ridden telelever my whole life, so I'm more used to that. The RS is about 20 lbs lighter than the GS, but it carries its weight higher up, so it actually feels heavier and it's not as nimble at low speeds like the GS. Also, the handlebars has a smaller lock-to-lock angle than the GS, the tank gets in the way of the handlebar, so the GS has a smaller turning radius. Plus 17" wheels front and rear vs the 19" front on the GS.

Same in some ways, different in others.

Not yet, we were just taking pix of her bike today. Maybe tomorrow when we head out again.

And maybe we'll also switch up if she lets me ride her bike... :)

You can see big brother GS lurking behind the RS in that closeup of the headlights... :)
Didn't even notice that earlier. It would be neat to see side by side and head to head shots. Really like that colour too.
Enjoy that ride!
