motorcycle lift at princess auto

I bought one and returned it for the 1000 lb model. Nothing wrong with it if your bike fits on it, but it was too narrow for my Pitbull single-sided swingarm stand. It was also short - my SXV rear wheel just made it on the stand when using a Baxley sport chock on the front. I didn't try the clamp that came with it.

I have the 1000lb one as well. My bike weighs 800lbs. great lift. Only modification was I drilled holes in the tray so I could put tie-down straps on it.

By the way, don't leave a bike on either of these lifts in the raised position unattended. The included locking bar is bent on mine, and I only had a 400 lb bike on the 1000 lb lift for maybe an hour. Will it eventually break? I don't know, but I don't want to find out if it will. I did remove all hydraulic pressure, though, not sure if I was supposed to. Now I completely lower it whenever I have to leave the garage. A pain to pump back up by foot, but if you have a compressor, you can let it do all the work (again, on the 1000 lb lift).

Thanks for your inputs everyone. look like I should go with the 1000lbs since it has the compressor . Will wait for it on sale as I have no urgent need for it now.

I have this one, been using it for years on my bikes.

It's fine for sport bikes, the single sided swing arm issue would be prob not be an issue for you.

I also bought it on sale for $400. Prob the best money I have spent in the garage. Working on the bike is a dream now

To be clear, the 1000 lb version does not include a compressor, it includes an air driven pump. You would need to have an air compressor to drive that pump to do the jacking. The lift also includes a foot pedal for manual pumping.

I really wanted to like it because I got it so cheap, but luckily by the time I realized it wasn't going to work for me, the 1000 lb version went on sale and was only about $100 more.

I got mine on sale as well.
I also do not leave my raised for extended periods of time. My locking bar isn't bent but I do not like the idea of my bike being so far off the ground for extended periods of time. The foot pump works really well and raised the bike quickly and easily.

So tempting. I will stop by princess auto and get one to try

Totally understand that . I have the air compressor already for tires change on my cars

I have the 1,000 lb capacity one and it is great to use, got a "like new" used one last year for $200 through Kijiji.

Usually $580 on sale vs. $380 for the 800 lb one, however, never seen them on sale at the same time. PA can tell you when the 1,000 lb will next be on sale.

They go a little lower at the end of the season, down to $475. But that doesn't help anyone who needs one now. If you can get the 800 lb home fairly effortlessly, just do it and judge for yourself. But at least measure your wheelbase(s) to make sure whatever you plan on lifting will fit, taking into account the actual front wheel location.

I guess I've got the 1000 lb one too as it has the air option.

For the money it's been an indispensable tool, no more oil changes on my knees.

I've left a Honda 4 wheeler atv on it for weeks (with a wood platform) and it rested on the included bar without issue. I currently have my 850 commando on it for about a month with no concerns.

I drilled the platform to add a couple U bolts as tie down points and I sent the stock wheel chock to the metal recycler as it was crap.

It's not the widest lift around, hence I think it can seem a bit wobbly, especially when fully extended. It wouldn't take THAT much carelessness to tip it over.

If I had kids, or people wandering through my work area I wouldn't leave it up.

Don't get me wrong - I love mine too, but it is what it is for the money. After owning it, I can see the value in the $1000+ professional models for anyone needing something more heavy duty.

just went to princess auto to have a look I will wait for the 1000lbs. As it has air compressor and bigger as well. I bought a motorcycle dolly $50 look heavy duty. I don't see myself getting any bike that is heavier than the 400lbs or any new bikes for a while. Two are enough for now.

I also have the 1000lb one that came with 4 U bolts along the side rails to have tie down points.
If you are working on concrete floor, get yourself some of those rubber interlocking playground mats - they go a long way to making your feet comfortable if you are working on your bike for a while. I even got a roll of non slip shop carpet and keep it permanently on one side. Some of the edges are sharp on these lifts and also designed to take your shins out, so maybe put some foam on them to protect you from yourself.

One of the things I like most about using the lift is being able to place all my nuts and bolts that I remove in order of removal neatly on the lift. Helps keep things organized for bigger jobs.

I just bought a used compact lift $300. i think it is made by kendon 1000lbs hydraulics only. It has adjustable length. I can store it easily.
-only a little ram height and i feel my bike weight doubles . Need more practice on loading the bike.
-need to make a floor stopper since it roll forward when i try to get it into wheel choke.

Pretty happy with it so far
