It seems like the past few days I've seen a number of 'black knight' riders. I don't get it.
Just like I don't get haters on the internetz.

I had one do the same.. when I questioned her if she saw me in the HiViz vest on the bright Orange bike and why she still pulled out in front of me, she said "yes. but I thought you would change to the other lane..."
I wear all black (boots, pants, jacket, gloves, helmet, socks, underwear, etc etc etc), and now my main bike is black, with a dark tinted windscreen and a black topbox.
The only time I've ever been hit in the last 250,000km was when the driver and I were both stopped, in broad daylight in rush-hour traffic, due to the guy's foot falling off the brake and onto the gas while he was contorting himself to mess with something in the passenger seat. Oh, and that bike was blue.
And lots of those klicks were at night.
Maybe I'm playing with fire, or maybe the hysterics around wearing all black are a bit exaggerated. *shrug*
I'm surprised that motorcycle cops are not required to wear ATGATT... including HiViz. I saw a Peel Region officer on a motorcycle A few back wearing a half helmet, non-armoured short sleeve shirt/pants and boots.
The police are continuously pushing Safety, Safety, Safety... and yet they take risks themselves... Not a Good Example!!!
No matter how good they are (and they are) F' ups happen.Um, people are actively scanning for and avoiding traffic cops.
They're also highly trained in their riding.
I would imagine that you're more likely to hit a fire truck or ambulance than a motorcycle cop.

... The best points I usually get from them are the following:
1. There is no debating Hi Viz is more visible than all black at night.
2. Don't ride motorcycles, they are dangerous.
3. If you ride motorcycles, wear whatever you want but be aware of the consequences.
Feel free to add more.

This guy was almost killed and lost his leg after hitting a goose during a VIP training session. He was knocked out on the bike because of his 1970s Chips half-face. As he was a Golden Helmet, the elite.
So much for advanced training.
If anything, riding those Harley tanks with a whopping 25 degrees of lean would require more gear, but according to the OPP, there has not been any safety advances in motorcycle gear in 40+ years? They dress exactly like the 70s and still ride those overweight bikes with low pipes and low, hard luggage.
Again, the rest of the world has moved on.

The gear is there. The bikes are there. It's just a matter of prioritization.

Just wondering whose motorcycle gear is all black or is going for the murdered out look. How do you feel when all your gear is black and you are literally a blind spot on the road. We all know it looks cool but self consciously do you feel you are more in danger?
