Motorcycle Dry Bags

Sheep skin works good. I'd have one on the klr but I can't to afford to make the seat any higher. I've already added lowering links and I'm at the limit of my inseam now.

My hardcore buddy has an oversized one and after a long ride that's his "air matress". Sucks after a wet ride though.

I have this but similiar. The D78 DrySpec D78 Waterproof Motorcycle DryBag Modular Packing System in Black Grey & Orange | 78L Total . I've put the set through several rain storms including one where my boots were so water logged, it took a week for the water in the soles to dry out. All the content was bone dry. The top load of the 40L does make it very easy to pack and unpack. The only feature missing from the bag that some newer ones have is the air pressure release. It only means you have to let the air out before you do up the final buckles but it also can be kept inflated if there's something at the top you don't want squashed.

The main 40L is great but the side bags, you better hope you don't have anything you need to get at urgently. I haven't really had any trips where i've needed all 80L at once and my tail bag and tank bag. All my experiences, i've ended the day at a hotel/airbnb so with soft luggage, its always several minutes spent taking the bags on and off the bike. For this reason, I was thinking of replacing it with hard cases and racks. I wont need it now that I have a moto-van though.

I used the two 20L side bags on my Honda CB500F cause the exhaust was low down. My 790 Duke's exhaust was super high up so I bought the D40 separately. I believe you've seen the SW Motech tail rack I got and I only got it so I could mount the bag without it getting melted. Since the whole Work From Home situation might not change, I never bothered getting the top box for work commuting(the backpack was sufficient).

All said and told, the bags themselves are quality products, just not to my needs. Shane, if you want to buy my D78 off me, let me know. Near pristine condition. Needs a spray with the garden hose to get the road grime but the bags are plenty durable. Its mismatching with the 40L in grey and the saddles in black.
Thanks. I'm only looking for a tail bag of sorts, definitely no side bags.
But post up some pics here anyways and maybe they'll be just what someone is looking for.

I have a yellow dry bag i mustve gotten from SAIL

It's been years but i used it to ride to quebec city, it was FULL and bungee netting was all that was keeping it on there. Doubled as a backrest as well.

One of those ones that you basically roll the top and then clip it closed, like this one but not this one

Surprised noone mentioned kriega, it's what I use and is easy to move between my 2 bikes.

(not my bike)

I use a couple different cheap roll top dry bags and put them inside better bike luggage, stuff stays dry and Im not digging to the bottom of a 60L bag for socks, cheap bags are different colours , so I know ( mostly know) which bag has what.

Am I the only one who just puts my clothes or sleeping bag inside a garbage bag before it goes into the saddle bags. Cheap and cheerful.

Any experience with the SW Motech? I might order
I have used their tank bags - very nicely made products and generally well thought out.
I have also used other non luggage products made by them and they have always been top notch.

same. I used to use a US-30 and saddlebags. Now I pack lighter and can fit everything in the US30.
Only downside to the Kriega is that it is a little heavy even empty but its got a double layer construction and is built like a tank.
The easy clip system make it a breeze to take on and off.

One problem with dry bags is they need to remain at least half full. If they're empty or mostly empty they don't stay secured to the bike properly. At least this is the case with all the ones I've used.

It's something I also am trying to factor in before buying. When @matthew posted up the Wolfman stuff, it seems they have a duffel bags which can be compressed down to accommodate the volume inside the bag while staying secure to the bike.

Something like: Expedition Duffels WP

I do really like the Kriega stuff too and know a few people who use it who like it very much. Too many choices!
