motoGP/moto2/moto3 Discussion (no links)

Not sure if Silverstone is confirmed for 2019 but if I were Dorna I wouldn’t be adding them back on the calendar until the drainage and bumpy track issues were fixed.

How about Brands Hatch Indy?! Haha

More likely to see Spain getting another GP than at Brands or Donnington if Silverstone gets dropped.

Although I love to see MM93 at jumping that mountain at Cadwell lol

Can you imagine travelling to this race and having it cancelled? Book tickets 8 months in advance...hotels/transfers flights etc. i would lose my mind. How do they not run this Monday?

They discussed it on the motoGP broadcast.

Several teams have testing and commitments elsewhere. The logistics of keeping the entire motoGP army of personnel on site an extra day would be staggering.

yes, refunded ticket price will not make the spectators whole by any means

Translates to F-U fans.

Putting the track problems aside, the whole thing was a PR disaster from start to finish. Communication was dismal, they went off air with the live feed FFS, surely it was crucial to
keep people informed.
The proper decision would have been to cancel much earlier, i don't think most people would have disagreed with that, but no, they kept people there in the rain saying they would run at 16:30 if the rain had stopped, as far as I could see at 16:00 the rain had stopped, mechanics were outside warming up the bikes and they cancel!
Smacks of dummies being spat out of prams to me.

I saw your post in the other thread; how was camping at all possible this year with the way it was?

Sucks to hear about your experience, what suggestions did the organization put forward in regards to compensation? I imagine this won't be cheap for Silverstone.

I still don’t understand your love affair with LB.

This is why. I told you he was hungry. He has still got a lot of fight in him, and while I agree the conditions were not safe to ride, it would have been good to see him back on track on a GP bike.

Barbera turned down Rabat's seat, I wonder if Baz is a potential candidate if Pol comes back?

Bwoah, this is defintely not going to be cheap, Carmelo is saying a re-pave is required to secure Silverstone for a slot on the 2019 calendar. So unless they can get Donnington or Brand Hatch or some other BSB track capable of hosting a race to take thier slot its not looking good for the British GP.

Resurface the whole thing? Or just the three corners where standing water collected?

Hard to say, really, since it was just standing water in those areas; however, Dorna may try to make an example out of them to deter others from following suit, so who knows?

Its harsh, but given the circumstances I just don't see how this all plays out positively for Silverstone, which sucks because even in F1 (old days) it gave good racing. There is lots of History behind, and it would suck to not have it on there, the weather there always spiced things up.

Shameful display by your favorite rider, guys; I'm not really picking sides with either of those two despite my obvious preference, but I side with JLO with this entirely, that is rather pathetic. As astute as he is said to be with the Media after all these years he could have put this to bed once and for all with a fake gesture--no one cares about JLO v Rossi anymore after that showing earlier this year--and let the riding do the talking (as it should be). Instead this is will continue on.

Anyhow, regarding SIlverstone: In today's Press conference Marc, JLO, and Rossi seem to be at consensus when asked what it would take for it to be able to be ridable for next year, and it seems that a whole re-pave is in order for them to feel confident. I think this is shame, but its not really worth getting another rider injured or killed out of a sense of tradition. I was dismayed when the old Hockenheim was retired, but it was just not worth it as F1 cars got so fast and a crash in the trees was iminent death as it would be hard to get a medical team in there.

yes, shameful behaviour, and a sad way to end a career
too proud to accept that he overreacted earlier

MM is learning how to be loved as a champ
I'm starting to come around
and that's a lot for a VR46 guy to say

Problem is Marc will want to appoloize or shake your hand one day and then screw you over the next race day if you get in his way. He is an amazing rider , probably may be the most successfull of all time. But he has alot of growing up to do. I don't blame Rossi on this one. He's seen this before and wants nothing to do with him. Whats the big deal just let it be. I don't understand why Mark wants to get Rossi's acceptance. Having said all the above I don't support any of the cheering when Marc wipes out or booing if he makes the podium in Misano. When he runs a clean race, he's amazing to watch and to me that's all that should matter.

And why is Jlo even commenting on this? Jlo is one of the most difficult riders to have as a team mate. He creates conflict no matter where he goes. Look at the recent spates with Dovi. Hes going to find out really soon what kind of team mate Marc really is next year. It's going to be interesting how quickly Jlo's view will change next year...

In comparison when Pedrossa took out Dovi a while ago and apologized - took ownership of the mistake he made. That was accepted as genuine. That's the difference in respect that the riders have for one another.

Depending on the Asphalt condition e.g. was the current surface repaved at different times, different asphalt suppliers, quality control testing etc. If you just repave the corners where the water collected, are you doing this to correct a drainage issue e.g. cross fall or is it both the drainage issue and quality of asphalt. If the asphalt quality is in question then in my opinion they would have to repave the entire track so you have a consistent level of asphalt quality throughout.

Preface: I hate the drama within Motorsports, its actually the worst part that I tried to avoid at all costs as it ruined my personal experiences within it in my personal Life; you acutely realize how immature some of your favorite people can be due to a lack of Real Life experience due to living in a bubble most of their lives. But this is simply not true.

I think you have a skewed perception of all of this, JLO was actually regularly in Dovi's podium celebrations last year, and he was making an effort to get out of his comfort zone to do so, because as you said he is REALLY difficult to get on with. It was odd to see if I'm honest, especially with the Pedrosa/Rossi conflicts, but I guess when you have the confidence of knowing you will be the top Team rider soon enough you can let one season go if it means creating harmony within the Team. And I actually believed him when he said he was helping him despite with Team Orders at Valencia last year, despite all the chat saying otherwise as Dovi was not doing well at all that day. And he still crashed out.

It was Dovi that went out of his way to 'undermine' him, and after this year JLO finally got used to the Ducati and has out-shined Dovi by a long way (despite being similar in points standing). And he has finally had enough and finally had the last say on the matter earlier this week when he reminded Dovi he is 3x MotoGP winner and the best he ever did was come in 2nd to Marc last year--and in my view he never had a real chance to win, despite the numbers showing a numerical possibility after Marc's engine failure.

Harsh words, but that's all that needed to be said. He doesn't have any standing to rebuttal that.

I believe the whole MM, Rossi situation was orchestrated by the media/Dorna to create controversy and publicity. Why do they need to shake hands and cuddle, they can be "fine" and get along without being best friends. I'm sure they respect each other as riders but they're not going to be sinking beers together in the evening.

I actually would of liked to see JLO stick it out with Ducati longer. He is definitely performing alot better and I honestly think if he kept it up he could compete for the title in the near future. Comparing Dovi 's success to Jlo is not a fair comparison. Unfortunately in MOTOGP the bike manufacturer is just as important as the rider. Jlo was fortunate to be ridding a Yamaha after Rossi and others built the bike to a top level. The Ducati wasn't anywhere near as competitive. I think it would be an eye opener to see how good all top level riders are if they were all forced to race on the same bike.

I think the top level riders would still be the top guys on equal equipment. MM93, JL99 and VR43 and then everyone else.

Look at SBK. Even with restrictions and starting back a few rows in the 2nd race, the top guys still get ahead.
