MotoGP 2015

If the penalty points are rescinded and Rossi isn't penalized in any way for his actions in Sepang, then that would be a very sad day for motorcycle racing.
I agree and don't think that would happen, he already admitted that he tried to slow down MM. It could be that they change the penalty but I don't think they would.

What also needs to happen for the future is some kind of rule against Sandbagging.

When did motorcycle racers become such pussys. Being stuck on the outside of someone means you have to dive in behind and pass on exit or run into the grass. I've smashed people out of my way, one guy 3 times on a straight till he was grassed. Of course this was when smash and run was not agaisnt the rules.

Pending Appeal.

As for VR, this is nothing more than showing he's protesting and trying to further the mind games. If he races (and he will) he'll start from the back.

Not quite. If they agree to a stay, the punishment will be delayed until the case is heard in court. If that happens, he won't start at the back and if he wins the 'ship it can't be taken away regardless of the outcome of the court case. If he loses the case, the punishment would be applied to a future race.

If that were to happen, you will hear some Spanish and Japanese (with a Honda accent) screams heard around the world.

I understand him appealing it and all that goodness, but I'm with Lightcycle on this. There needs to be consequences when stupid things like this happen on the track. However, you either punish everyone or no one, and that won't happen until they amend the rule book on 'acceptable racing behaviour' or a no sandbagging rule.

Knowing the amount of followers Rossi has (even in the spanish venues), the question is will he booed or cheered in Valencia?

only cheered if he starts last. both if he gets his punishment repealed.

This might be the first time we see Soccer style rioting at a MotoGP race.

Some of you guys are funny.... Marquez will be the one getting the booes.. maybe not as much in Spain, but .. good luck with the hat and shirt sales

I'm buying one so.. in your face Marquez... wait :(

Just came to the realization MotoGP has not made one plug nickel off me in the almost 40 years I've followed it. That's a shame. And my contributions to the bench racing side of the sport are always under performing. Makes one wonder what I've been watching all these years. Maybe if one of the back markers (I can't name any) wore a plain white helmet I'd buy another one. Anyway, I can't wait 'til Sunday 8am local time.

Interesting, though I don't think anything will come of it.

A new development.

The sanction imposed by the Race Direction at the Malaysian GP is suspended until further action from the CAS.
On the basis of Article 3.4.2, para 3 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations, Mr Valentino Rossi has filed an Appeal against the decision taken by the Race Direction of the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix in Sepang, penultimate round of the FIM MotoGP Grand Prix World Championship, and confirmed by the FIM Stewards, to award 3 penalty points to Mr Rossi following an incident on Turn 14.
In appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Mr Rossi seeks annulment or reduction of the penalty. He further requests stay of execution of the decision in accordance with Article R37 of the Code of Sports-Related Arbitration.
The FIM will not comment any further at this time.

This is great, CAS has all the authority to overrule any decision made by FIM. They have overruled decisions made by UEFA in soccer and turned the results completely around! With Vale's fame and wealth :), one would hope that CAS will rule against FIM's punishment to Rossi. This last race needs to be a win or lose race for both riders, not handicap Rossi to help Lorenzo win by default...

Guess I'm buying some Rossi boots and I'll see you trackside!
wouldn't be the first time you and I bump butts on track lol
